I started DISCOUNT PLANS LTD 19 years ago after working in various structural engineering offices in central London at the age of 18. Mostly in freelance positions, changing from job to job at an annual rate trying to get up that ladder of expertise. I quickly lost my motivation working for big bosses looking for profits constantly while paying me a small salary for good work being produced. I decided I needed a change and wanted to help MY clients in a way that would benefit them. I saw a gap in the market where I knew I could make a difference. Every day, I saw clients being treated badly by the companies I was working for on a daily basis, and I knew I could make that change. These high street Architectural companies were taking advantage of the naive clients who did not know the process, adding hidden fees, charging for endless amendments, charging for additional drawings, and charging five times the amount I actually charge to my clients today for simple bog standard designs. After 19 years, I have made a difference from all the great positive feedback from retuning customers over the years, which we are proud of.
My company, Discount Plans Ltd, hit it off when the 2008 recession came in when home-owners were not prepared to pay £5000 for a loft design, instead going for us, the technical draughtsman, at a mere £950 with drawings being designed at a higher standard than the RIBA high-end ARCHITECTS.
