The food we eat plays an enormous part in our health and wellbeing. It’s a core part of leading a healthier life. Nutritionists are experts in helping you make practical steps towards improving your nutrition. They can create a structured meal plan to help you stay on track to becoming a healthier you. It’s not just recipes though. They can offer expert tips and tricks to keep you on the straight and narrow.

What’s the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?

Registered dietitians are qualified to assess, diagnose and treat dietary problems or nutritional needs. They also tend to help clients with special dietary requirements or medical conditions. To be a dietitian, you’ve got to be registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC). Many dietitians work within the NHS as opposed to privately, although you can still find private dietitians to help advise you on your eating habits. Whereas nutritionists are more likely to be the ones advising on weight loss or sport nutrition. Nutritionists can be registered with the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists (UKVRN), but they don't have to be.

What qualifications do you need to be a nutritionist?

To become qualified as a nutritionist, I had to complete a course run by the UKVRN. After completing the course, I became qualified as a registered nutritionist. This means that all my clients can check my qualifications and experience online. Clients can therefore be confident in my abilities, as they know that I'm qualified under a trustworthy organisation.

What’s the most common reason why clients come to you?

Weight loss is the most common reason that new clients come to me. They often find it difficult to know how to get the right nutrients into their diets without feeling hungry or unsatisfied. But over the last few years, I’ve had more and more people coming to me with IBS-related issues. I think that's because more people are recognising the symptoms of IBS and are getting diagnosed. They then come to nutritionists or dietitians for guidance on how to alter their eating habits to help relieve their symptoms.

Jeury is an amazing trainer! He’s super knowledgeable and really pays attention to the little details in your form. He’s always giving small tips and making subtle adjustments that completely transform the workout. I’ve had moments where I suddenly feel muscles I didn’t even know I had working, and it makes such a difference. When I started, my mobility wasn’t where I wanted it to be, but I’ve seen so much improvement since training with him. I’m getting stronger every day, and what I love most is how much he really cares about your progress. He gets genuinely excited when you improve, which keeps me motivated and makes the whole experience so positive. On top of that, he’s just such a friendly and easy-to-talk-to guy. I can’t recommend Jeury enough. Working with him has been a game-changer for me!
