Personal Trainers in Philadelphia FAQs

How much does a personal trainer cost in Philadelphia?

According to our data from the Middle Atlantic region, a personal training session typically costs between $49 and $125. The cost of hiring a PT in Philadelphia will be influenced by factors such as the instructor's credentials and whether the session is private, group-based, or online. Further details can be found in our detailed guide on the cost of PTs in 2025.

Is there a way to make personal training more affordable?

In short, yes. You’ll likely find that private personal training sessions are the most expensive because of the tailored nature of the approach. However, buying a package deal or paying for a number of sessions upfront may get you a discount. It’s worth discussing with your trainer once you’ve connected. Alternatively, group training sessions or online coaches might be a more affordable option if you’re looking for a cheap personal trainer in Philadelphia.

What certifications and qualifications should I look for?

A reputable trainer must be certified. Look for certifications from accredited organizations. The most respected in the US are:

  • NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine)

  • ACE (American Council on Exercise)

  • ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine)

  • NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) - particularly the CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) for athletes.

How often should I have PT sessions?

The ideal frequency will depend on your budget and goals. Some people see their personal trainer once a week for accountability, supplementing those sessions with runs on the Schuylkill River Trail, solo gym sessions or classes at a local studio. Others, aiming for a major transformation, might train with the support of a coach for every single workout. Specifying your preferred schedule will help us find the right personal trainer for you.
