My name is Alexander Gray and I have been in the personal training business for 4 years. My journey started after I had a career ending back injury playing professional Baseball in Japan. Having the frustration that comes from a injury that seemingly nobody can help is a hard reality to be in and I took it upon myself to figure out my own body. That path lead me to becoming a Athletic Trainer in Louisiana working with schools like LSU and New Orleans University, working hands on with all ranges from 10 year old's to Professional Athletes on Injury prevention, athletic development, and increasing muscle mass. I studied Biomechanics as well as a introduction to Kinesiology during my time down there. After working with Athletes for 2 years, my passion for helping others expanded when I moved to NYC and became a Personal Trainer for Equinox. Being at Equinox for 2 years, I have established myself as one of the fastest growing trainers by working with variety of different types of clients such as working with injured people ranging from ACL replacements, Disc Herniations, Frozen Shoulders, Torn Hip Labrum and much more. During my time there I worked as well with aesthetic goals for both Females and Males, whether it was getting ready for a Wedding and slimming down, or building muscle in certain areas for a nicer frame. Always taking into consideration of if my clients have any tightness or compensations, my training style works by combining the goals of looking great but also feeling great where it translates into their daily lives. Currently, I work a private business around Manhattan, accepting new Clients whether it be working at there home gym or a private facility in UES, Flatiron, or Midtown East.
I help my clients achieve their fitness goals by understanding what the lifestyle they live is. Besides the personal goals of toning, building muscle, getting on a routine, its important to see what else is going around that so we can tackle any objections that might make it harder to be consistent in their fitness goals. Whether that's work and finding the best time, or sleep/social life, its important for me to know the little details because adjusting those pushes us just a little bit more to getting to those goals quicker and smarter.
Consistency over pushing yourself to the limit. Sometimes less is more, and being able to find the right harmony to give our body a break but push it when it needs to be pushed is the secret.
The thing I love about my job is not just seeing my clients happy with how they look, but how they feel and have the confidence to go and tackle new challenges in life.
After being injured and no answers, it felt like I just had to accept the reality that I was messed up for life or that I will always just feel this way. That feeling is something that is incredibly tough to deal with and after being able to fix my own injuries and change that perception I had of myself, I want the same for others. To have them feeling great about themselves whether that's through fixing a injury or finally losing the weight you wanted, or finally being able to look at themselves and smile, I know that I can help and that is what inspired me.
I don't treat personal training as just a transaction. Everyone has things they deal with outside of training and for them to use part of their daily time and spend it with me makes me motivated to not only give my best service but lighten the load that they carry on a day to day basis.
I provide online services as well, currently I work still remotely with professional athletes and am very use to the online methods.
Whether its online training or making sure we have clear communication of who we have been around and personal hygiene, I train clients in private studios that are well maintained and clean with limited access.
