How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

First, we sit down and discuss medical history and injuries. That is the most important information a trainer can possess so they know realistically the time frame to achieve a client's goals. With my 35 years experience, I have a very good idea and plan for each individual client.

Second, the reason why behind a specific goal. The more specific and single minded a goal is, the better the odds of achieving that goal. To lose weight is not a goal. To lose 8% body fat by a specific date IS a goal.

Last, I will be your biggest fan. Whatever it takes, I am there guiding you each hurdle at a time.

What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?

There are no secrets. I'll tell it straight, that it takes hard work, dedication and discipline. I can transform obese clients into fitness models through diet and training and motivation. However, this is not a take a magic pill and all the fat will melt. I wish there were! I'd take it myself.

So no secrets. I give you the plan and you follow it. It works 100% of the time. The right foods, the right training based on your specific body goal.

What do you love most about your job?

Changing lives is the reason I do what I do and have done it for so many years, most of my life. My clients laugh, cry and develop into strong, confident and happy people. That's the love for me and always will be.

What inspired you to start your own business?

It was entirely by accident and necessity. I have a masters in science and previously was a High School Science teacher. At the same time (on the side), I was personal training several clients. I was laid off from teaching at the time and ended up being hired as a Manager for a popular Hoboken gym. That was the start and not something I had ever planned.

Why should our clients choose you?

Knowledge, experience and intuition.

Any trainer can have knowledge and study. I have a masters myself but have had the privilege to be an effective teacher. If you can't teach your knowledge so it's clear and translate it to your client's particular needs and goals, it's not worth it.

Experience can only be earned by time. I thought I was a great trainer after 8 years in the business and only now realize I didn't know what I didn't know. My experience is what lands me clients that have the biggest hurdles and most challenging metabolic issues or injuries. That is what takes experience to know how to work around any deficiencies.

Intuition is tricky because it's combined with experience and a lot of knowledge. It is why I am capable of transforming clients that require extreme changes such as actors for roles or bodybuilders for competition. It's a balance between science and knowledge of individual circumstances.
