Hey! I'm Shannon & the owner of GymClass... I have a background in weightlifting & have been a life-long athlete. I founded GymClass based on the concept that we are all stronger together so opening a gym that provided opportunity for community around fitness just made sense to me. Although we have moved all of our classes, training & nutritional coaching online during the COVID-19 crisis, we are still able to be here 100% for our clients while maintaining our sense of community through our private online groups.

I started working out with Susan in 2020, and since then I have lost 40 lbs. I do cardio and weightlifting with her. She also advised me on nutrition like what supplements to take and what to eat. Most importantly, she like my doctor in house with whom I can have candid conversations about changes in my health and stamina, and she will come with the best recommended plan that doesn't rely on tests and medications. I love working out with her and continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Please reach out to her for your wellbeing especially if you are a 40+ woman, she really understands the problems and challenges of older women.

Obesity runs in my family and I've struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I have also battled an eating disorder since I was 13 years old. Chris provides nonjudgmental and positive support without placing additional pressure to be perfect. Chris preaches making small daily changes to your routine to create lifelong habits instead of fad diets or expensive supplements. Don't get me wrong this is still hard, but Chris knows that. There's no shame involved ever, and for someone who needed a trainer who could be a friend and not just someone who barks orders at me this is a perfect fit.
I would recommend Chris to anyone looking to make a permanent change, and would especially recommend him to people who have struggled with body dysmorphia or eating disorders. His gentle but firm approach will have you feeling secure without obsessing over the numbers.

While in chiropractic school, Minet was my biggest influence and the one I looked up to the most. From almost being crippled from rock climbing accident, I was walking with joy of tears from one adjustment from her. It was such a powerful experience. 15 years fast forward, she's still one of the most precise adjusters I know.

I just spent this entire past weekend doing yard work, in particular pulling weeds and did not have any back pain. After 7+ hours of work bent over lifting and pulling, I was able to stand up straight with some mild back pain. Shane trains you how to use your body the way it was designed to work, focusing on posture and balancing the front of your body with the back of your body (how many of us spend it sitting ). I only wish I took photos of my yard before and after to show you all how much work I did and was able to walk away with some mild discomfort. Even though I know how to move being a Chiropractor, his program helps to build the right muscles making your daily movement more effective using proper posture, setting you up for success in your daily life. I highly recommend his program for any and all folks looking to support their body the way it was designed to move. Thank you, Shane!

FItness 19 seems to have positioned itself squarely into the 'budget' category of fitness places. So, align your expectations. You're not going to be getting the vast, varied facilities of larger (and pricier) fitness clubs. No pool or sauna, no sports, no showers, very limited classes, serviceable but not premium equipment. If, like me, you just want to do basic fitness routines with basic equipment, and not pay a lot or drive too far for the privilege, then this is your place. They have all the standard aerobic machines, weight machines, and a collection of free weights.I have two main complaints: they have neither power rack nor squat racks nor lifting platforms, so if you're into the "big lifts," doing back squats and deadlifts is really not an option. Also, they only have two stairmaster machines at this location, so I have to wait sometimes. If you want the ellipticals or treadmills or bikes, they have plenty of those, no worries. The price here is certainly right. Despite the name, wait for the right special offer and you'll be paying $10/month or even less. The staff can be a little, shall we say, missing in action. Not surprising, at their price point they obviously can't afford to have a huge staff on duty at all times. More often than not, I sign myself in with nobody at the front desk. Not a problem for me, might be a problem for some. They're around, but often require some tracking down if you need something. I can say that the kid's room staff is always very nice, and as diligent as you would expect when kids are in the room.In short, good value for the price for those with elementary fitness needs.
Get in Shape with the PKW Method! Don’t Leave Your Results to Chance! We will work as a team to achieve health and wellness via progressive overload, proper nutrition, and aerobic conditioning. I've helped hundreds of people reach their goals, all with varying starting points, injury histories and anatomical structures. I have been training clients full time (40+ sessions per week) for several years now and I have developed a science backed system to get you to your fitness goals safely and efficiently! My method utilizes three main principles: Progressive Overload, Nutrition, and aerobic conditioning. Progressive overload is achieved through consistently challenging your muscular and cardiovascular systems week after week. Progressive overload is required to make gains to your muscular size, strength, and endurance. Methods of progressive overload include adding more resistance, increasing range of motion (ROM), manipulating lifting tempo, increasing work volume and frequency, or decreasing rest periods between sets. Proper nutrition enables you to perform to the best of your ability by providing your body the fuel and nutrients required to improve body composition, fat metabolism, muscular regeneration and promote healthy organs and hormone levels. Aerobic conditioning refers to any physical activity that involves continuous and sustained movement that increases heart rate and breathing. Regular aerobic exercise can improve cardiovascular health, increase endurance, and boost mental health, leading to improved overall fitness and wellness. We can maximize the efficiency of your aerobic system via training it in specialized and structured periods of work and rest. Through proper programming I will regulate the intensity and duration of rest/work intervals to your specific needs and level of fitness. Training is Not One-Size-Fits-All Everyone is different, therefore, each program is carefully constructed to tackle your goals safely and efficiently. Each program I design takes into account your specific fitness goal, anatomical structure, and past or current injuries. Aside from proper nutrition, individualized program design is crucial to achieving optimum, life-changing results. As your abilities and physique begin to change, so will the programming. Exercise variation is great, but too much variation can be detrimental and hinder the rate of neuromuscular adaptations. To combat this, PKW programs are written in 4-6 week blocks to give your body time to adapt and improve on each of the 6 fundamental movement patterns discussed below. Once each 4-6 week phase is complete, new movement patterns will be introduced, which forces the body to adapt to a different training stimulus and develop new neuromuscular adaptations. Each PKW program consists of the 6 main movement patterns healthy humans should perform on a weekly basis - Push, Pull, Squat, Lunge, Hinge, and Carry. Push - Horizontal or Vertical push movements that rely on chest, shoulder, and tricep strength, and mobility Pull - Horizontal or Vertical pulling movements that rely on the complex back and bicep musculature that also provide stability to the upper body during pushing movements Squat - a bilateral movement pattern that utilizes the quads, hamstrings, hip adductors + abductors, calves and requires stability of the torso, hip, knee, ankle and foot Lunge - A Unilateral movement pattern of the lower body that requires balance, coordination and proprioception Hinge - Movements that require hinging at the hip, essential for building a strong and resilient lower back Carry - Moving your body through space, usually loaded with weights and requires stability, core strength, balance, and coordination These fundamental movement patterns will challenge you, but ultimately build resiliency to injuries, increase muscular, tendon, and joint strength, flexibility, stability, metabolic efficiency, improve body composition, bone density, and combat stress, anxiety, and depression.
I bring a decade of experience training all types of individuals such as high school and college athletes, business executives, and busy moms and dads. I create a fitness plan tailored to both your goals and body structure. Everyone is anatomically different, so not everyone can utilize the same movements and achieve success. This is why "cookie-cutter" programming (giving everyone you train the same program) is not something that I will ever do. I will help you get to your goals by providing expert guidance, motivation, education, and nutrition.
Consistency! Changing the body takes time, so staying consistent is key to getting long lasting results. Fat loss can happen relatively quick (4-12 weeks). Building muscle however can take months and even years. Consistency and patience is key and fitness success stories do not happen overnight.
After training at PKW, you will feel results after our first session. Seeing the difference on the scale or in the mirror may take up to 2-4 weeks of consistently training. It typically takes 2-3 months to make significant changes to your strength levels, mobility, metabolism and body composition.
Being able to help people, make new connections and change peoples lives is what I love most about my career. I haven't dreaded going to work ever since I started my training business, and it's due to loving what I do. I genuinely have a passion for fitness and helping others and that's why my business continues to grow.
My entrepreneurial nature and my love of fitness inspired me to start my own business to start making a positive impact on peoples lives. I quickly outgrew the corporate fitness training world, so to accomplish my vision, I left my previous employer in 2017 after training there for 18 months to start my own venture and haven't looked back since. My only regret is that I didn't leave sooner. Fast forward to 2023 and I currently train 40+ sessions a week, and I just launched an online training service with my own fitness app.
Clients should choose me because I practice what I preach. I’ve been in the fitness industry for a decade and possess all the knowledge and resources to help you succeed. My background in exercise and movement science along with my experience in the field training clients has given me the knowledge and expertise to help everyone, no matter their starting point, to achieve their goals.
Yes, remote training is available! We can train via Video call and I’ll be there every rep of the way! As of February 2023 I now have my own fitness app to help deliver all of the qualities of my in-person coaching to those of you who aren't located in the Bay Area! App access is included in all of my training packages going forward.
I have been fully vaccinated and also wear a mask throughout our sessions. Equipment is also sanitized thoroughly after each use.
