It's just one of the many ways we communicate." Kris Coleman is a Youth Advocate Coordinator by day but an up and coming local DJ by night. He goes by the name DJ K-Boogie because of his unique way of making the crowd "boogie down." K-Boogie noticed his love for music at a very young age. "I can remember spinning my dad's vinyl on Saturday mornings and Sunday evenings. --"He would let me put the records on the turntable and when he didn't look, I tried to scratch." DJ K-Boogie is a self taught DJ. Studying the minds, techniques, and skill sets of DJ Kid Capri, Jam Master J, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Nabs, and Grandmaster Flash, he hibernated himself in the house for a whole year to master the art of DJ'n. After a year of practice, he started his DJ career rocking house parties, family reunions, weddings receptions, and even gospel events. My style will include blending and mixing songs but also cutting & scratching when appropriate.
In my honest opinion, music transcends all culture, race, ethnicity, religion, and even emotions. With music, we all can laugh, smile, dance, and sometimes cry. In my opinion, that is the beauty of music. When you gather a group of people from all ages, race, and gender, music is the one substance that we all have in common. What I love most about music is how it unites us all.
I've been a music lover since the age of 12 or 13. I've always been a music collector. A few years ago, I was encouraged to start my own business because of my love for music and people. I was told, "You should be a DJ. You like people and music---that's the best combination." Deejaying is a business, however I started this business to enjoy music with other people.
