Find the best DJ for your event

Finding the right DJ means matching their expertise to your event's unique demands. A professional wedding DJ in California can seamlessly transition from ceremony music to first dances and a high-energy reception. For the corporate world, a DJ can electrify a conference in San Francisco or a holiday party in Downtown LA. For private parties -from a sweet sixteen in the San Fernando Valley to a 50th anniversary in Sacramento - the right DJ creates a personalized soundtrack. And if you need a mobile disco or karaoke DJ, they can bring the party directly to you.

Why hire a professional DJ?

While using a pre-made Spotify playlist or assigning music duties to a family member may seem like cost-effective alternatives, they lack the specialized expertise of a professional DJ. A professional's value lies in their ability to read the audience, curate a dynamic atmosphere, and adapt the music in real-time to keep the dance floor consistently energized.

DJ hire in California FAQs

How much does it cost to hire a DJ?

According to Bark data, the average DJ in California costs $630 per set.

When hiring a DJ in major California cities like LA or San Francisco, you can expect costs to be higher than the state average. The price can vary significantly based on several factors:

  • DJ's Experience:< A well-known club DJ with a history of high-profile events in LA or San Fran will command a higher fee than a talented newcomer.
  • Event Type & Duration: A 5-hour wedding reception with MC duties will cost more than a 2-hour corporate mixer in Sacramento.
  • Location & Logistics: A venue in Downtown San Francisco with complex load-in rules or a Beverly Hills hotel with valet-only parking will affect the cost. Travel time for a remote winery event or navigating LA traffic can also be a factor.
  • Equipment Needs: A large beachfront wedding in San Diego requiring an extensive sound system and lighting will increase the price compared to a smaller indoor party.
Tell us what you need, and we'll connect you with California's finest.

How do I find a cheap DJ in California?

To find a budget-friendly DJ in California, be strategic. When you post your request, provide as much detail as possible to get accurate quotes. Although not guaranteed, here are a few tips for getting an affordable DJ:

  • Book on a weekday: A Thursday event is often much more affordable than a Saturday.Look for rising talent: An up-and-coming DJ can offer great value and a fresh perspective.
  • Hire hyper-local: A DJ based near your event may have lower travel costs and therefore be cheaper to book.
  • Be flexible with timing if you can: Off-season months (like November or January) can sometimes mean more competitive prices.

What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?

The secret to keeping a party dancing all night long is understanding your audience. With years of experience in different types of event and venue settings, I've come to realize the best way to keep a party going is to gauge the general atmosphere by considering the mood of the hour. I break every hour down of an event down individually, and excuse the pun, "play it by ear".

How would you describe your ‘style’?

I'm an open format DJ so I can mix, remix, mashup really any genres together and keep a vibe flowing seamlessly. You can see some of these types of mixed genre sets on my mixcloud.

What do you love most about your job?

I've been DJ'ing since 1996, music is everything. I like being able to facilitate people coming together and celebrating life and every event has a foundation in this concept.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have always owned my own business. I started dj'ing when I was a teenager, I did that for private parties and such back in the 90's. I then moved on to produce forest and warehouse raves. I got a degree in business administration in my 20's and then went on and contracted myself to do sound engineering and lighting for theatre and circus productions. That evolved into a passion for performing arts which I decided to perform, direct, and produce shows throughout the mid 2000's. When covid shut down gatherings a few friends in the industry told me about twitch and that inspired me to full time DJ again.

Why should our clients choose you?

I am a DJ as well as a sound engineer, so not only can I deliver the music you want I can guarantee it'll sounds amazing. I am not gimicky, I do not like to yell out over the mic all night blowing an airhorn sample. I put my effort and originality into my sets and use quality equipment -- these are the things you will not get with a budget DJ. If you hire me, you will be throwing a party people won't forget.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I can provide my services online, remotely, or live. I can stream to a private youtube channel and I am a twitch affiliate.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I am fully vaccinated, and comply with any masking or social distancing requests at events I work.
