My mom completed her first CrossFit workout this week at Blended Athletics on her 60th birthday, and I cannot thank Dave and his staff enough for making this possible.
After being involved with CrossFit myself for the last 6 years in another city, my sister and I finally convinced my mother to give it a try this week.
Mom completed her On Ramp with Dave, and loved it. She was so nervous when she started, but Dave put her at her ease, scaled and explained everything to her, and challenged her with workouts and movements that were intense but safe, difficult but achievable. She is absolutely buzzing now and so excited to get started in class.
Any gym can train 20 year old superstars, but it takes someone and somewhere special to look after a 60 year old grandmother and make her feel as welcome as my mother felt.

The Canada Games Centre is marginally more expensive than other gyms around the city but the membership is well worth the money. The extensive facilities are very well maintained and have great hours. The group fitness instructors are fantastic and lead excellent classes.The staff are always friendly, helpful, and surprisingly cheerful at 5:30 AM. The entire centre opens at 5:30 AM during the week which is great if you feel like playing badminton, going for a run, or going for a swim before work or school.The centre is also open late with evening fitness classes available. If you are new to weights or need motivation, the group fitness classes will introduce you to weights and are always varied.
