Every relationship is different. When you and your partner, friend, or relative are looking for expert advice, you want it to be personal to you. Let Bark know what you’re looking for from your relationship counselling service.
We’ll compile a list of personalised quotes from the relationship and marriage counsellors who offer exactly what you need. You can stay up to date with responses, as we’ll notify you every time a new quote arrives to keep you in the loop.
With Bark, it’s easy to choose the right professional for your needs. Look over your list of personalised quotes and browse previous client reviews. Or, contact the therapists themselves to find out more about them.
It depends entirely on the client and the type of therapy session that they want. For example, it’s normal to have telephone or online counselling sessions more frequently, say once a week. Whereas face-to-face counselling sessions might be less often, maybe every two weeks or once a month. If they wish, clients can use a mixture of counselling session types. This is a good way to get the benefits of each type if they cannot fit in a weekly face-to-face session. Normally, a weekly session is recommended at first. But the sessions can become less frequent as the couples work through their problems.
Again, it’s different for each relationship. Some people only need a few sessions to resolve their issues. Whereas for some couples who may be married and have a family together, it could take longer. This is because there are other people to consider. Each talking point may have different implications for their family, so can take longer to work through. Normally, I'll complete six sessions with my clients before doing a review. This is when we'll discuss whether they feel the need to continue with the sessions or not.
It’s not essential that both parties are present at every session. If each person has their own issues which are affecting their relationship, then individual sessions can be really useful. But for the most part, it's best if both parties attend every time, as it's the best way for them to work through their issues together. Coming to the sessions together often encourages people to listen to each other in a calm and proactive way. This can have a really positive impact on their everyday interactions with each other.

Melanie is absolutely amazing! I’d give her 10 stars if I could! If you want to actually work on yourself, get to know who you are, learn what you’re carrying that no longer serves you and how to set it down, Melanie is your lady. If you’ve been in traditional therapy most of your life and continue to have a yo-yo of ups and downs with no actual progress, if you are no longer interested in being offered pills as bandaids and want to actually heal, Melanie is the answer. If you are struggling in your relationship, if you’re at a crossroads in your life, if you are battling grief, Melanie is the answer. The mix of life experiences and education Melanie has, along with her empathy, allows her to really put herself in your shoes. Melanie thinks and operates differently than traditional “talk therapy”. She offers grounding techniques, teaches tapping techniques, and somewhere during all of that she also leads you towards owning your responsibilities and power within your own life. For woman especially, you will find Melanie to be a breath of fresh air no matter how far down the rabbit hole you may be. That being said, my husband actually found her and started seeing her first (to deal with his grief of losing his younger brother) and he really likes her and still sees her on occasion/as needed. I still see her weekly because she’s been a lifeline for me these past few years. Melanie is both my husband and I’s first line of defence when we need help with either our individual mental health and/or our relationship. Melanie really brings to the table something I haven’t seen or experienced in my over three decades of therapy work and I cannot express enough how critical she’s been to me this past year.

I’ve just recently started using these services as I’ve always been someone who gets anxious talking about myself with someone I don’t know. Anna has basically knocked down all these walls of doubt as it just feels nice to know that she really HEARS you and not just listening to problems. She is so accommodating and has made my first experience feel like I shouldn’t feel ashamed for looking into help
