What do you love most about your job?

As an attorney working with business owners, individuals and families, I have the opportunity to interact with a good cross-section of the community. My work enables people to meet their needs for the present and the future, whether it involves business operations, exit planning, estate planning or any other legal need. I am always happy to improve someone’s life.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I am a “hands-on person,” in that I don’t like to play a small part in a larger role. I like to be involved with the businesses and individuals I work with and know them on a long-term basis. I am an attorney people turn to for their lifetime. I enjoy the ongoing relationships I have with my clients and the autonomy I have to do that.

Why should our clients choose you?

Joseph G. Milizio, Esq., is managing partner of the law firm Vishnick McGovern Milizio LLP. He is a member of the firm’s Business and Transactional Law, Exit Planning for Business Owners and Real Estate Law practice groups. Mr. Milizio launched the firm’s LGBT Representation Practice Group over ten years ago, offering legal counsel and representation on key issues in the LGBT community. Mr. Milizio received Long Island Crisis Center's Person of the Year Award in 2017 and Long Island Business News’ Corporate Citizenship award in the for-profit Leadership Excellence category in 2015.

Mr. Milizio is a longtime member of the Greater New York Steering Committee of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. In addition, he serves as co-chair of the region’s Federal Club. At its September 2017 meeting, the Nassau County Bar Association board of directors established the LGBTQ Committee co-chaired by Mr. Milizio, who states, "The Nassau County Bar Association prides itself on the inclusion of all minorities. We look forward to working with committee members to address equality in the law and legal concerns for the LGBTQ community in an unbiased way."

Mr. Milizio received his Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School and graduated magna cum laude from St. John’s University. Admitted to practice law in the State of New York, he is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association, where he also serves on the Lawyer Referral Committee, as well as the Corporation Law and Real Estate Committees.
