Jennilyn Proulx is the owner and lead photographer here at JPP, where she specializes in wedding photography in Utah. She has been using a DSLR since 2002 and has been specializing in wedding portraiture since 2008. She began dabbling in videography in 2014, but leaves all the important jobs to her friend and business associate Stacey Petersen. Stacey has been photographing weddings and couples since 2006. Then in 2010 she pioneeered the way of birth story vidoes here in Utah. She has since returned to her first love of weddings, filming them alongside Jennilyn. We also offer albums in all our full day packages to preserve your important day!
My love for photography started when I was in high school. I became the school yearbook and newspaper photographer the end of my sophomore year until I graduated. For me, the ending of that journey was the saddest thing about my graduation. I was told being a photographer wouldn’t gain me a living, and I should aspire for something higher. I listened to other people instead of following my heart. It wasn’t until after my father passed away, I realized what I should have done. Now I am trying to regain my dream, and prove to myself and others that you can achieve anything your heart truly desires, regardless of what others may say. Only you are in the way of reaching your full potential.
When my father passed away, it was shortly after my own wedding. The photographer we had hired really fell short in quality and most of all the experience. The last images I have with my father are blurry and improperly exposed. Your wedding images are so important anyway, but to also have my last moments with my father poorly documented, hurts. That’s when I decided that I was going to specialize in weddings so I can prevent others from the same experience I had. And that’s what I want my client’s to have. An experience! A GREAT experience! Weddings are such a huge milestone in our lives and they need to be celebrated and cherished.
As beautiful as styled shoots are, they are not real wedding situations. They can make for a gorgeous website. As they should. They have been carefully planned and thought out; using attractive models and the best that the vendors can offer. There is also not the pressure of time constraints that a real wedding day has. All the images you see on my website are real weddings, real couples, real scenarios. We have photographed literally hundreds of weddings and know all the ins and outs that the day can hold. We also ensure to bring back up equipment in the event of technology failure and have also invested in multiple and proper digital storage options.
