When my daughter contacted Mara for a bridal hair/makeup trial, she was impressed from the beginning. Mara offered the option of coming to my daughter or us going to her. She took the time to listen to exactly what my daughter was wanting. She was patient, friendly, flexible, & professional. When the tattoo coverage she used ended up not working so well, Mara experimented with lots of others to find one that actually was amazing!
The day of the wedding Mara & her assistant, Mandy, arrived on time (think they may have even been early), & had their “makeup/hair studio” set up in no time! They began working diligently, yet never once making us feel rushed. They did makeup for the bride, 3 bridesmaids, and me. Mara also did hair for my daughter. Anytime my daughter or any one of us asked for changes (darker, softer, etc.), both Mara & Mandy were more than accommodating.
Mandy did more of a dark rose on my eyes & a berry color on my lips. I would have never thought to do that on my own (I tend to stick to browns for my eyes). It really looked stunning. I got so many compliments that day—as did all the girls—thanks to Mara & Mandy!

If I could give more stars, I would... Cinthia is simply amazing! Before her, I was bouncing around from "stylist" to stylist trying to find that ONE that knows me, what I like, suggestions to try according to my personality etc... A true personal hairstylist. She listens to what you are truly trying to achieve (even when it seems like what I'm saying & what styles I like are contradicting each other lol... I think we all do that time to time) so the fact that she knows when I'm veering off another direction she reminds me or will ask me again to make sure I'm truly getting what I want. Not to mention, she will send pics of styles that she thinks would look good for me, to change things up a bit so things don't stay too boring with my short hair. Cinthia is awesome, patient, knowledgeable & just the best I could ask for. I'm really glad I found her!

New to the area and they were so kind and helpful! My haircut was exactly what I asked for- I have kind of strange hair, that will only curl under very specific conditions...freshly washed, perfectly layered, and with product that isn't heavy but just enough to help me scrunch. Damon cut my hair and A) didn't make me feel like a diva with my hair neediness and B) managed to layer my hair in such a way as that it's curlier than ever. As it often happens when a woman goes thru a major life changing event (in my case, marriage:) I decided that I needed another drastic change... I thought that it would be a good idea to get my hair cut. All of it, down to the 1 inch range:) I perused the internet in search of hot female celebs who were brave enough to cut their locks and go short... The list was NOT long. Charlize, Alyssa, Sharon and both Ashleys (Scott & Judd) graced the images online with pixie-ish looks. They looked so good, but they also had expensive stylists helping that along... I couldn't possibly afford that kind of a cut. WHAT TO DO? So I remembered my friend Eileen referred me to her stylist at Suburbia in Studio City. Eileen has the best hair, always the coolest color and the most dramatic looks. I took her advice and booked the husband there for his wedding haircut, and it was FABULOUS. It couldn't be any different for me, right?Well when I called to set the appt, they were so accomodating as to inquire as to what I was looking for so that they could pair me up with someone with skills. SWEET! Then when I got there, they were so good to me, I felt as if I were royalty. I was hooked up with Marianne who is ADORABLE and her protege assistant... They both listened intently as I described my ideal haircut and showed them pictures. Within moments I was whisked off to a shampoo (it feels great to have someone else scrub your head, no?) and conditioner, and back in the chair to face Marianne and the razor cut:) Folks, she was like Edward Fricken Scissorhands with those scissors and that razor thingie! In what seemed like minutes, she transformed my long lifeless curls into the cutest haircut I've ever gotten! Not to toot my own horn - OK FINE I'm tooting it... But DAMN this haircut is HOT! After she was done with the chopping, she threw in some smoothing balm and blew me dry;) Then, the best part by far was the wicked wax application which left me looking like I JUST HAD A CELEB STYLIST prepping me for the walk down the red carpet. EAT your heart out Paris, no one's looking at you. You either Miss Lohan! Yep, everyone's looking at me as I strut myself into the... oh wait... where was I? Oh yeah, still here at my desk at work avoiding my boss' eveil glares while I yelp...Suburbia, for real folks, give 'em a shot. They will be my hair place until I leave LA. BEST KEPT SECRET in Studio City!
