My husband and I decided to have our wedding at the Boathouse after we had dinner at the restaurant to celebrate our engagement. It was the best decision ever! Alli was incredibly helpful throughout our entire wedding planning process. I really can't imagine a more qualified, organized, or friendly person to work with and we have nothing but amazing things to say about her. Having your wedding at the Boathouse is as stress-free as wedding planning can be. They are so easy to work with and it is so nice to have one vendor handle the ceremony, reception space, linens and rentals, and catering. The food was incredible, we had so many compliments on the unique space, and they included so many thoughtful touches for my husband and me (like providing us with a meal to go as we were leaving--I was so nervous during the actual reception I couldn't eat much of my dinner!). Altogether, we are so happy we chose the Boathouse and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I could not be more pleased with how my wedding day turned out. You have to try their food!! My guests are still raving about how great the food and service was during my reception. Working with them was so easy and relaxed. No pressure. They will literally make any food you want. We chose heavy appetizers and food stations, but there was so much food it turned out to be a full on buffet dinner! (Winning!!!)

So it is a great bar, thats why I first visited... but the food is AMAZING.Try the shrimp and grits. I'm addicted. It is rich and creamy and is one of my favorite meals in Richmond. Also, my wife randomly tried the quesadillas. Now she swears by them. We moved from Texas, and she says it is the closest thing she has found to good Mexican food here.

Acacia Midtown (formerly Acacia) is now reopened on its West Cary location, just East of the Boulevard. Chef Dale Reitzer has been awarded a number of times since being named among the Best 10 New Chefs in America in 1999 (Food & Wine). Acacia Midtown may not have quite the pomp of some other Richmond establishments, but the restaurant holds its own with a classy ambiance, exquisite menu, and delightful service. The new location has plenty of dining space, with a wine cellar, bar, and private dining area (separated by curtain). Acacia offers a very reasonable Prix Fixe 3 course menu ($23 and the whole table must participate). The menu has a number of staple dishes, though it is printed daily to accommodate locally fresh ingredients. I enjoyed an hors' d'oeuvre of fragrant Steak Tartare on bruschetta with hints of pepper and olive oil. The watercress and celery root salad was served with a lobster ravioli that had bits of ginger in it. The garnishing sauce had flavors of whole grain mustard, sesame, and cinnamon. Our main courses were a stuffed duck breast served over creamy polenta and broccolini. The polenta was as fluffy as scrambled eggs. The whole dish was reminiscent of a southern breakfast. My main course was fresh grouper over sweet potato, sauteed spinach, and sunchoke in a pomegranate reduction. (sunchoke was new to me, like a thinly sliced potato - flimsy and quite sweet) Desserts included a Mascarpone clafoutis served with fresh berries, sorbet selection served with biscotti, Orange chocolate souffle cake, cheese plate and an apple tart with vanilla ice cream. While memorizing the dessert menu, I enjoyed the banana creme brulee. Full selection of cordials and after dinner drinks. Coffee served by french press. The location is a bit sketchy at the moment, but valet parking is available and if you are a city regular, then parking on the street is no problem. The nearby bus station is soon to move and be replaced by mixed use business and residential buildings, so Acacia is anticipating growth in the midtown neighborhood.
