A much welcomed vibe in Santa Monica, will become a common name quickly. While the wine list features some great local gems, do not overlook Fred's eclectic cocktail menu. The electric daisy WILL turn your mouth numb for at least 45 seconds and you'll love it. And the Cran-bucha is an expert spin on my favorite fermented drink with a twist, super refreshing with perfectly balanced flavors. Lobster arancini - rich, warm and delicious almost risotto on the inside with a crunchy exterior, a must! Caesar salad is one you can confidently order on a date and not have to tackle huge chunks of lettuce (or is that a personal problem of mine?), anyway it's chopped and has a smokey flavor with char from the grill, a great starter dish. Friends had filet and also the fish of the day, which was presented beautifully, fresh herbs, citrus, simple and delicious. My entree however was obviously the way to go, Scallop and Sea Urchin Risotto, lovingly served inside the shell for presentation - superb. Interior is vast but also feels intimate with warm orange accents and hip overhead lighting. Go here and Bon Appetit!
