What makes a great website?

Effectiveness, efficiency, and effortlessness are three aspects of good websites. The best websites serve the needs of the visitor without any unnecessary effort. Design elements such as typography and color are used to effectively communicate the brand of a business/person. Efficient websites use technology such as HTML, CSS, filesize optimization and other technologies to present the website to the visitor as quickly as possible. Effortlessness requires the designer(s) to envision themselves in the shoes of the visitor and make their experience as easy-going and welcoming as possible.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

When first meeting a client, my first question is usually, 'What are you looking for in your (new) website.' If the client has a website, I'll ask them, 'What do you like about your current website? ' and also, 'What would you like to change about your website.' And lastly, I'll ask, 'How will you know the website has been a success.' Those questions are to invite the client to give me context for the business goals of their website and also to hopefully explore areas that their website can help their business grow in some way.

What do you love most about your job?

My favorite part of working in web design/development is creating the mockups and the process leading up to that point. Before the coding (development) phase begins the website is just an idea. Watching the idea grow from the input of my client into something which has the potential to satisfy their needs and the needs of their clients energizes me.

What inspired you to start your own business?

After spending a long day of looking for work, I was sitting down, a bit tired of filling out job applications. Getting rejection form letters and, even worse, no responses at all from companies made me consider if the skills I had were up to par. I didn't have the time or money for further education but I knew building a better skillset is the best way to gain leverage while looking for work. And what better way of learning about business than running a business, right? It's been a winding road of success and disappointment but I can say that I have learned a lot about business and the internal tools to maintain an even-keel throughout.

Why should our clients choose you?

Aside from the technical skills, an important skill for a designer to have is that of listening. Listening to my clients and listening to the needs of visitors limits the opportunities for misunderstanding of the goals and business needs. In the end, the website I am hired to make is yours and it is my goal to design and develop a site that allows your business to help your customers and allow you to reach your financial goals.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

My services are available remotely. Businesses around the world have worked with me to create their websites. An English language debate school in Seoul, KR, an expansion soccer league team based in Las Vegas, NV, and an adult day center from St. Louis, MO have worked with me throughout the years.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

My services have been 100% remote since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
