John is a tremendously compassionate and skilled therapist. He truly understands the issues, concerns and fears of transgender and questioning youth. He is wonderfully open and easy to talk to. John has created a great space for kids to hang out, join an art or black box therapy group, get to know one another and just be creative. He has really made a difference!

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is an effective, evidence-based treatment grounded in psychoanalytic principles; it has been shown to be helpful for a wide variety of mental health issues. It is especially beneficial for problems that don't respond to other therapies or medication alone. What to expect--The relationship patient develops with the analyst is key in psychoanalysis.

At Sunstone Counseling we love being able to support and help those struggling with mental health and daily life stressors. We love seeing our clients grow and become empowered in their lives.
When we were starting our practice, we learned about a sunstone’s “healing properties,” including its ability to improve one’s mental and emotional health. Sunstones have been used in some cultures to alleviate depression and anxiety, and to encourage independence, self-empowerment, confidence, and vitality. A sunstone is believed by some to enhance one’s optimism and belief in self. In addition, we thought a image of warmth (sun) and strength (stone) provided a perfect representation of our counseling practice. It was this that lead us to want to provide this type of support to our local community.
At Sunstone Counseling, we understand that deciding to see a therapist can be a stressful decision. We offer nonjudgmental and qualified therapists to help you with the transition into therapy.
