I've had the pleasure of working one-on-one with Jim as his MAMFT supervisee and cotherapist for over two months now and I can confidently say that he is the best supervisor I have ever worked with. His no-nonesense style is refreshing and I have greatly benefited from his efficient and direct way of communicating. Many supervisors just provide passive "feedback" on cases based on what they hear their supervisees mention during their supervision hour. This is not good enough for Jim: he asks the tough questions, offers research and other helpful data for extra insight on cases and is diligent about keeping an eye out for the legal and ethical liabilities associated with each case discussed. I can trust Jim to provide a very valuable supervision experience every time I meet with him. Jim teaches, protects, validates and challenges me to be a competent practitioner. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Jim for LMFTAs who are looking for the best "bag for your buck" in terms of what they hope to get out of a supervision experience.
I am a mental health clinician that provides ongoing services for children 18 and under. I have a background in trauma services and provide Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy services. I also have a specialized focus on early intervention working with children 5 and under and am willing to support them in childcare settings where the behaviors occur. I believe in supporting children with evidenced based programs such as TF-CBT, Child Parent Psycotherapy as well as curriculum based approaches in the classroom to support social-emotional learning. I also work with children who have dual diagnoses such as autism, developmental delays or language delays that can affect their emotional functioning. I can work with ages 18 and under in areas associated with anxiety, depression, trauma and oppositional behaviors.
I love working with children in their community setting where the behaviors occur. I love working the caregivers and teachers to support a collaborative approach to learning ways to work in the "whole picture" with all supports that are working toward helping children be more successful.
I really wanted to be able to provide a different type of therapy that isn't always framed around office-based services. Although I feel there are genuine benefits to those services, I also feel that we need to support children and caregivers where the challenges occur. That is why I feel that a mixed approach of office based, community based and home based is essential. Starting my own private practice allows me to have the flexibility to serve multiple locations.
I have a strength based and family focused approach. I believe that every child and every person has strengths to build on and that my goal is to bring a non-judgemental and caring role to help you in your journey to find what you are looking for. I also firmly believe that caregivers are the experts regarding what is best for themselves and their families. My goal is to help provide guidance and support to giving you a space to feel comfortable sharing your needs and working on ways to help you gain the path you desire.
