I have been a practicing therapist for over 30 years. I am currently a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor through the State of Maine. Additionally, I am a National Certified Counselor. My approach to therapy is holistic in nature. I believe that it is necessary to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of one's self. Therapy is a partnership; it is also a journey that we will share together.

It is rare for me to encounter an experience with a business that constitutes my time and effort to write a review online, but after my visits here I would take the time to write several reviews. For the first time in my life I was experiencing severe and chronic back and hip pain. The doctors I saw could not do anything for me except put me on pain medications. I truly feared that at 40 I would be living with the pain indefinitely and as physically active as I am that thought was as crippling as it was for me to even drive. As I am from D.C. and have only been in Maine 3 weeks I looked online and found Nan MacKinnon. After a thorough consultation and 2 separate hour long massage sessions I no longer am having any problems. Obviously everyone has different types of pains and for different reasons, but she caters her work to your specific needs. Nan is a very talented and knowledgeable massage therapist. She is also a very kind and understanding person. She helped me not only resolve my physical issues, but she listened and talked me through how to handle stresses in my life that have contributed to my back and hip problem. Whether you are looking for a relaxing massage or are dealing with an issue please give her the opportunity to help you. You will not be disappointed. She is wonderful!

I had a spinal fusion at age 18 due to scoliosis. Now that I'm entering my
mid-50's, I've started having mobility and pain issues in my neck. I used to get massages in the past and noticed that they helped. I've ignored my discomfort over the last year or 2, and decided to make a concerted effort to get regular massages again. I go to Heather every couple weeks. My neck now is pain free. An unexpected benefit was just recently discovered. I sometimes have anxiety when I travel. We just attended a wedding out west....absolutely NO anxiety before or during this trip. I will continue to get my regular massages with Heather. I hope you do to. Her hours are flexible, and are great for those wanting to go after work.
