I trained my White German Shepherd with a local dog academy and a big-box petstore trainer for over a year. I followed the programs, attended the classes and trained with my dog regularly at home. I was still not seeing measurable results and had a dog that was routinely jumping up, nipping and generally doing whatever he wanted. Training was becoming more frustrating than rewarding, and the behavioral problems with the dog were a significant issue. I was not eager to join another school when I had already paid for lifetime group lessons and additional one-on-one training with the academy and the pet store, but the problems with the dog were too significant for me to just stick with the same failed approach to training. I found SMS by searching the internet for the best dog trainers in Denver and went in for a consultation. They did an evaluation and a training session, and the results were profound. I was able to control the jumping and biting after one session and within a couple of weeks I had a dog that would stay for an extended period of time and respond to a number of other commands. I had been working with the other trainers on this for over a year, and had seen no improvement at all. One of the things I like most about SMS is that they put a lot of effort into the group lessons. The focus is not about getting your dog to a certain benchmark and then asking for more money or sending you off to train on your own. One of their group classes is geared towards advanced training and I have been amazed at what I have been able to teach my dog is those sessions. The agility training, obstacle courses and advanced dog handling techniques have been great for building confidence in my dog and strengthening our bond. One of the other schools I had attended offered advanced training for additional per-lesson fees, but this has all been included with SMS training.I started my training with the SMS in Westminster and then transferred to the Longmont/Firestone location when I moved to Northern Colorado. A couple of other things that I like about the Longmont/Fireston location are the ability to join a flyball league and the opportunity to get your dog certified as a therapy dog and work with the community.

My dog Jax was sent to K9 league for aggression, he had recently bit my mom and my fiancé and I was at my last resort on what to do. I contacted Amber at K9 league and she was very nice and understanding, she let me know that they could help and that they have done this many times before. Of course, going into it I was nervous because we had a bad experience before with a dog trainer. Jax was with Amber and Steve for 2 full months! When Jax came home he was a totally different dog! He sat on command, laid down on command, did not go out the door before told to do so. Jax was calm and did not show any signs of anxiety! I took him to my mom's where he was always so anxious and caused him to bite and he was so good! If you are looking for a dog trainer that will help you and get your dog to where they need to be no matter if they are biting THIS is the place to go! They saved Jax's life! I am very thankful for them and all that they did to make our life better. MOST importantly I got to keep my pup and we are all now very happy!!! DO NOT look past them, they are truly THE BEST!

I believe in In Home Training as that's where you and the dog live. When you take a dog out of his/her environment they change. Some become more shy and some become more aggressive. I want both the dog and you to be relaxed and in your normal state of mind. We work on basic obedience--come, heel, sit, down and stay. You learn right along with your dog. It's important that you develop that connection which will result in good obedience.

I have over 12 years of dog training experience. My board and train program is conducted in my home so that your dog can learn good manners in a home setting. I focus on helping you bridge the communication gap between yourself and your dog. Each day is a new challenge. No two dogs are alike so working out the best training method and options that fit each situation is the best part of my job.

Kaleb’s understanding of dogs and their behaviors is truly impressive. My German Shepherd had some behavior issues that he was able to identify and dissect quickly and then able to help me understand how to handle her properly in short order. Training was effective and to the point. My dog now responds to my commands without hesitation. Money well spent and a great learning process from someone who has a unique natural ability to get into a dogs head, something that I will never understand myself.

Juan and his team are amazing! I took my French bulldog Dexter to him. Dexter was as most Frenchies are very stubborn and was still pooping and peeing inside the house and in his kennel. would not walk on a leash and would not listen to commands. after his 2 week board and train program Dexter now enjoys walks and we have ZERO accidents in the house. he's learned sit and stay and we will be working on more commands. highly recommend his to anyone wanting to get help with training.

Tame Dog Training has worked wonders with my large german shepherd. I can now walk him off leash while I push my baby in a stroller without worrying about a thing! The training system and commands were very easy to learn and continue at home after training. One of the best benefits after joining the Tame Dog Training family, is the ability to board your dog and have them "freshen-up" on their training! We know our dog is in trusted hands with Tame Dog Training!

Dee's doggie den has gone above and beyond to accommodate me and my pup. I am often last minute asking them, Evan specifically, to bring my dog to me if i get in late from out of town or to wait a minute for me to get to the hotel to pick him up before they close! Evan ALWAYS stays late or brings him to me. I love this place, my dog has grown to love it and he's really shy at first. They always hold him for a while and get him comfortable (he's a mini dachshund, only 8 pounds). They are AMAZING. Thank you Evan for breaking your back for me !!
Hi, my name is Alia Bailey, founder of 214 Dogs. In 2007, I became a pet parent (owner). My pup's name was Soccer, and I quickly fell in love with her. I wanted to give her the best care possible. I grew up with very well-behaved German Shepherds, so getting her trained wasn’t even a question. I signed her up for classes at my local pet store before she even came home to me. I was quickly disappointed by the training I received. From there, I looked into different places to get her “re-trained,” I tried a few and realized that I could not find anything that fit my needs. So I contacted my mom, the only “authority” I knew on dog training. I explained that no public, private, or in-home trainers trailed the way our German Shepherds were trained. My mom still had everything from the pet training my childhood pups received, and through that, I started getting Soccer trained. I then noticed that so many friends or people I met had the same need I had, and this led me to find a mentor who lived in New Zealand and used the same training style I was using. From there, I started my career in dog training. I have been successfully training dogs for 15 years now using a style of training that works for every dog. I train every pup like it is my pup. I give you, the pup parent, the skills to ensure the training is successful. I create a plan with you based on your particular pups' needs; your family's need, and your circumstances. 90% of every pup we train is trained in the comfort of your own home. Your dog needs to be in their environment because that’s where they spend their time bonding, learning, playing, and relaxing. As required, we will do car rides, trips to the store or park, etc. We will even do overnight stays at my house if this is an issue you face. The other 10% of the time, pet parents might find themselves in a position where the pup cannot be trained at home. In this case, your dog can be trained at our place. The training is just as successful regardless of the location. The success will depend on you. As noted above, our training is custom, but most pups have the basics down in 4 to 8 weeks. During these 4 to 8 weeks, we work with you and your dog, and in between visits, we text, email, and call you (or you may contact us) to ensure that things are going smoothly each day. Our 4 to 8 weeks training lays the foundation for your pup. Training a dog entirely takes a full year of consistency. At 214 Dogs, we know your pup's success is our success. We stay with you an entire year to ensure your pup stays on track. What about after the year is up? Every pup graduates from our program with lifetime support. You can learn more about this on our website. Call us at 214-214-DOGS (3647) for a free phone consultation today and get your pup started on the road to being a well-behaved dog. I look forward to talking with you.
I love watching a pet parent learn what their dog already knows, "the dog laws."
All dogs live by a set of rules or laws. As humans, we try to apply human psychology or thinking to our dog's behavior. Most of the time, this leaves us with an unruly pup. But once a pet parent understands the rules that their dog lives by, the laws they were created already knowing, only then can they truly begin to know, understand, love, and train their dog.
Watching this transformation is amazing every time!
I tried various types of dog training with my pup, "Soccer." I always walked away feeling defeated. Soccer knew many commands but still had severe separation anxiety. One trainer even told me that there was nothing that could be done. After hearing this, I was even more determined not to give up; I searched until I found a trainer who acted as if her behavior was an easy fix.
Once he taught me the psychology of dogs (dogology), I was so excited that I told all my friends who asked me to teach them. From there, my teacher taught me how to be a dog trainer, and I graduated from his program with a renewed love of dogs and a deep understanding of what makes them tick and how to help any dog with any issue. Dog training became my passion.
We put your pup's needs before training. We take the time to learn your pup and win their mind over using dog psychology. We then help you learn how to apply this approach to your dog. Once you win a dog's mind, training comes easy and natural for them. Learning the commands is something they will want to do as they learn to communicate with you and build a strong, lasting relationship that will improve their quality of life.
Yes. If the pet parent is ill or needs to reschedule, we are always willing to do this in-person or online using a tool like Zoom. We also offer remote or online sessions at a reduced rate for pet parents who prefer online or remote training.
If your trainer is sick or has a fever, we notify you immediately and will reschedule if needed. Our pet parents need to be as healthy as possible so they can devote as much time as possible to their pups. Safety for our pet parents & their dog always comes first.
