We are an award winning planning, architecture, and interior design firm which believes in responding to our client and building user needs and budgets. We design in all styles. As we are also general contractors, we know costs and construction. We have significant experience in new construction and remodeling apartments, houses. retail, and institutional projects. As an added feature, we offer Brainstorm Design Sessions, where, for a reasonable fee, we produce design sketches and a conceptual construction cost estimate of the design to give you a perspective on what is possible for your project without committing to the typical full services of an architect.

I bought a "project" house in 2014.  This place was stuck the 70s and every single room needed a makeover.  I saw this place as an opportunity to to take a "blank" canvas and make it into exactly what I wanted.  I figured it would be fun to develop my handyman skills in the process.  As I started going through the house, I kept getting more (and more ambitious) ideas.  Many of which depended on one another or required a feasibility analysis from an "expert".  That's when I called Bruce to come in and help me get all my ideas organized through one of his "Brainstorm" sessions.  Bruce is awesome!  He came out and took a look at the place, including crawling around in the attic, measuring everything and listening to all my ideas.  I really appreciated the time he took to make additional trips out to the site, and the several phone calls to walk through ideas and clarify priorities.  I felt I could be completely direct and candid without offending him, which is important to me.  In the end, he helped me see what was possible with this place, by providing several sketches detailing some great solutions (that I hadn't even considered) to many of the issues I encountered, and an overall "plan" with a very detailed cost estimate.  I am taking my time working on this house, but I intend to engage Bruce throughout the process whenever I need to call in an expert.

Nick and Austin are pros. Â They helped us build a deck and patio roof on the back of our home in SE. Â They spend the time to get things right, frequently check in to make sure everyone's on the same page, offer good design ideas, and they take pride in what they do - which means they spend time on the details, even when working on a fixed fee. Â As just one example, they sent a bunch of materials back to the yard that had arrived with scratches - the materials were apparently good enough for the lumber yard, but not for Nick and Austin, which we appreciated. Â On time, done right, efficiently priced. Â Hard to beat.

Phil Coates answered my urgent call for assistance when a poorly designed sun porch suddenly hemorrhaged in one of the biggest storms of last winter - threatening to flood furniture, floors, and more.  Phil and his super crew came immediately and carried out  serviceable repairs, stopped the flood, and helped us clean up.  (All the while drenched to the bone, teetering on ladders in the biting wind, yet cheerful and polite.)  We made a plan for a permanent rebuild of the faulty roof, and when the rains abated in spring, finished the job.  Phil's prompt, professional assistance in our time of need, his experienced guidance toward our final resolution of the problem were much appreciated.  Only later did I find out his prices were substantially below that other roofing firms wanted for the job.  Roofing Rain of Shine is what local quality business is all about: experienced and up-to-date, considerate of personal needs, fair in pricing, and for us, a good neighbor.  Call them while the sun shines if you can; call them anytime if you need to.
