I called Rick at LA Music Teachers who connected me right away with a teacher and had me starting the very next week! I am now 10 months in, and still really enjoying it. My teacher Xochitl (Zoe-Chee) is super talented, and super patient. She works a ton with children, but had no problem pivoting to a middle-aged adult. When she learned I had some music theory background, she made sure to always reinforce the lesson with the theory points behind it. She is very diligent about reinforcing the basics, that will create a strong foundation, but she allowed me to "free-style" with my own piece I was interested in playing, and included that piece in our lesson work. And while I'm sure she would love it if I had more time to practice, she never makes me feel bad about my level of progress or having to go back over things. Highly recommend!!
