‘21 Certificate of Excellence

ER Nurse by day, photographer by night. I enjoy capturing moments as they happen, authentically with use of natural light. I am a one-woman show, however I have been taking photos for over ten years now and have gotten pretty good at moving quickly and efficiently to bring to life your vision. I am new to Bark, however my website "Contact" tab has a link to Thumbtack where you can find reviews written by previous clients! Please feel free to poke around my website to gain a feel of my style and reach out through my "contact" link with any questions and to discuss the details of your photo needs. Looking forward to chatting with you! Cheers https://www.hsoucy.photography/

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?

For me, capturing a great photograph is about framing it well with a background as well as using lighting to make the photograph more dramatic. Using your surroundings allows your photos to not only capture the beauty of your subject, but also tells a story of where and when you were taking these photos.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

FAQs include your vision for the end-product; how many photos, indoor/outdoor, number of outfit changes. I'd also like to know if you have any insecurities - I know, it's hard to talk about with a complete stranger - but it allows me to work around anything you don't want featured and highlight the things you're more confident in.

What do you love most about your job?

I enjoy helping my clients to have fun during our shoots! Sure, being vulnerable with a complete stranger is never an easy undertaking, however I've gotten relatively good at trying to lighten the mood and make things way more fun than awkward. When I am sensing that a client is more nervous than most, I take baby steps to get them used to being in front of the camera. Showing them what they look like with a preview of what they look like, or providing small coaching tips has helped me successfully take on clients of all comfort level.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Growing up, my Dad always had a camera around. He is a professional photo/video guru based out of Boston, MA and I had the privilege of not only watching him work his magic, but also helping him as a second-shooter for many years. I've learned nearly all of what I know about the photo industry from him, and I'm still learning!

Why should our clients choose you?

Clients should choose me if they're looking for a one-woman show who focuses more on an "organic" style of photo. Being a full time ER Nurse, photography is truly a second profession for me. This means that, while I love being able to turn this hobby into a way to help pay the bills, I am by no means the best of the best, with the best of the best equipment or assistants. I would encourage clients who are considering hiring me to explore my website at my style of work. Being a solo shooter, I do not have other hands helping to hold/carry lights or capture additional camera angles. This means that I tend to move around a lot during the shoot to get you different angles/views while you remain in one location, and it means that I try to utilize natural lighting to enhance our product. This style of photography simply isn't for everyone. Please, take a look around! If you have any questions or would like to speak about an upcoming opportunity you might have, feel free to reach out.
