What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?

The difference between a professional and an amateur is preparation. You cannot just show up without prior thought and strategy to produce consistent well-above average work. A great photograph comes with the knowledge that 90% of the work happens before you click the shutter. A professional knows they have everything they need for the client to be more than satisfied at the end of a shoot through their confidence in the preparation process. There should be no wild stress of the unknown and it should be fun, taking photos is such a pleasure to do well and a great photograph can change the way people think about themselves.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

Every shoot is different, and I would ask specific questions for each individual shoot but these are some general questions I ask for almost every shoot, I ask: What are you looking for specifically as a final product? Who is the audience for this photograph? Will the final photographs be used for online or print? When, Where and How long do we have to shoot? Is there a theme you want for editing, or do you have any examples of what kind of photos you want? When do you need the Photographs by?

What do you love most about your job?

The best compliment I've ever been given for a collection of my photos was when I shot a single singer at a small concert venue. I ran into her for the second time and she said that her mother had cried looking at the photos saying they were the best "Her" photos she had ever seen. It just feels so good when people look at the photographs I take of them and get excited to show people.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I am formerly a US Army Ranger at 75th Ranger Regiment and on my Third Combat Deployment I recorded our missions and photographed what we did. It was so much fun learning a new skill and being able to translate that into work after I finished my service that I decided to continue photographing and filming. Without that experience I don't think I would have the passion I have for it now.

Why should our clients choose you?

I am a professional photographer, I have experience shooting in every environment, for many genres and people. I have shot for museums, magazines, traveled the world photographing people and places while also having toured with bands to document their shows. I have strong management skills from my time in the military and I would never sell anyone photos that weren't the best that I could produce.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

The only way I'd be able to work remotely for a client is if they were to send me the products they want photographed, I take the photos at my own studio, and send the product and the photos back to the client. Besides products I don't think I'd be able to do more remotely but I'm always open to new ideas.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I am vaccinated and have not contracted COVID-19. I will take whatever measure makes the client feel confident in their safety for a shoot. I would never put a client at risk of illness for a shoot.
