Dennis Michael's Comedy Magic Show

Arapahoe County

Hello, my name is Dennis Michael For the last 28 years plus, I have entertained audiences of all ages, at virtually every kind of event you can imagine. I pride myself on being a unique entertainer who provides entertainment that is funny, fresh and memorable. I work regularly doing close up magic in restaurant as a promotional service and have incredible skills as a close up magician for events where strolling entertainment is best suited. I also have a fun and engaging small stage show that I can perform in rooms as small as a living room full of friends to a banquet hall full of club members. Restaurant promotional entertainment: I can currently be seen in three South Denver area restaurants where I provide weekly entertainment for guests. My magic performances can be a great draw for families and groups to your restaurant. Magic also has a romantic feeling to it that can lend itself to your date night guest's experience too. One of my restaurants I have successfully partnered with for over 17 years. My restaurant clients understand that my performances in their restaurant are not just a novelty entertainment but a solid marketing and customer relations tool. Don't think of it at "having a magician" think of it as "having a public relations entertainer." More information on my website. Magic for Grown ups: More adults are hiring magicians these days to entertain their adult guest and event attendees. With television programs like Penn and Teller's Fool Us! and America's Got Talent there is a positive trend for having adult level magic at events. I have repeat clients who hire me annually and semi annually for their events. I am available for close up magic that happens right in the hands of the spectators as well as an engaging small stage show that is suitable for living rooms, small theater or banquet events. I love doing home parties and cocktail hours. I can provide either close up magic, a sit down show or both depending on your event needs. Family shows: For decades I have performed family shows in a variety of public and private events. Festivals, club meetings, mitzvahs and children's birthday parties too. My family shows offer something for everyone. My comedy is always family appropriate and my routines encourage everyone to get involved. every show is different because I do incorporate a lot of improvisational comedy along the way. One thing that sets me apart from other magicians is that I do bring my ukulele to every show. I have a unique list of songs that I play as well as songs that I improvise with the audience. I would love to talk to you about your event. Waldo Impersonator: I am looking at this as a future offering for my company. You have to start somewhere and I am looking for first time clients to help me launch this new part of my business. I make a wonderful "Where's Waldo" and I have some pretty unique ideas for how to help you market your company or event in large crowd settings. Let's talk about setting up a an event and I can share my ideas for how to be a great addition to a private party or a sponsored feature at a public festival or community event.

How long have you been interested in magic?

I have had an interest in magic since I was very young. I only rediscovered magic again in my 20's while living in Stuttgart, Germany while I was serving in the U.S. Army. I studied magic, European style clowning and street performing in my spare time. After I got out of the army I moved to Seattle and started working part time as a restaurant entertainer. I took a job with a booking agency and learned about events and booking entertainment. About a year later I purchased the company and eventually moved to Denver where I restarted the business, met my wife and started a family. Its been a wonderful 27-28 years and I feel so lucky to be making my living as a magician. I don't think that little boy I was ever would have seen that coming.

Take us through your show – what can we expect?

I always perform to the audience I have in front of me. It is important to connect with your audience at the level they are at. Sometimes this means having the ability to offer entertainment to a variety of ages, intellects and backgrounds. Magic is a unique in that it is a very flexible form of entertainment that can be performed to a passive audience with close up magic as it can be performed to a captive audience with an intimate sit down show.
I provide a show that is an engaging experience in either case.

My magic performances are laced with family friendly, professionally appropriate humor. It is my goal to make anyone who helps me on stage look and feel empowered. I depend on that trust with my audience that I will not make them look foolish or feel bad about the experience.

My routines and many of my effects are uniquely my own. When you hire me you are not hiring "just a magician" you are hiring a skilled and entertaining character to perform for your audience. I provide a show that is full of variety and fun. While a lot of my performance is loosely scripted there is a lot of room for improvisational comedy to be inserted along the way. This adds to the spontaneity of my act and allows every event to be different than the next.

What do you love most about your job?

I love the creativity my job offers me. I love sharing my discoveries in magic performances and effects. Being able to perform and connect with my audience is a truly life affirming experience. Being together with my audience and sharing moments of impossible things is one of the best places I find meaning in my life. My work is about relationships. No matter where I am performing that is at the root of my work, act and performance.

What inspired you to start your own business?

After serving in the U.S. Army as a combat photographer in the Gulf War my outlook on the world had totally turned upside down. I had seen more than anyone should see and I needed a more life affirming career. I first continued with my photography but soon found more joy and steady work in entertaining. I have run a few entertainment booking companies over the years and eventually decided that I just wanted to promote myself and work as a comedy magician.

Why should our clients choose you?

More than anything I want to create a relationship with clients that goes beyond just being a novelty entertainer for their event. I want to forge a relationship with them that makes them want have me as their first choice for entertainment. I offer an act that is one of a kind. It is more than just my magic, it is my personality and character. I believe I have the skills and experience to give clients the best performance investment they can find. I am not looking for a one time customer I am looking for a client needs the specific shows I provide.
