What’s your interior design process?

It’s actually a very straight forward process! We kick off the project with an initial consolation, where I go to your space and talk to you about your wants and needs. Measurements and photos are taken of the space, as well. From there, a proposal is sent out to you after a couple of days, which gives a breakdown of the cost structure, project details, and design concepts. Once that is approved, I start with the floors plans and space planning to make sure that the new walls, fixtures, and items chosen will fit in the space properly. From there, the fun begins! Depending on the client’s preference to shop online, in person, or a mix of both, I start designing and making selections. I create digital concept boards with how all of the finishes, furniture, and fixtures will look. Additionally, I provide shopping lists, with the items and pricing, so the client is always aware of what everything will cost. When everything is all set and approved, I purchase everything for my clients and set up shipping for them. I work with Architects and Builders to assist with the construction, and am involved in every phase of the design. Once construction is wrapped up, we schedule a time for delivery and assembly to happen. My team assembles and styles your home according to the floor plans and your liking.

Which interior design styles can you cater for?

That’s the beauty with interior designers, being able to listen and absorb the information that you have relayed to us and utilizing that information in order to create a space that is perfectly catered for you. A lot of times my clients will have Instagram photos, Pinterest boards, or just a color pallet and stores that they love. That is why I also include some concept images in the proposal of what I am thinking for your space, so you can trust that I
will design to your liking.

What do you love most about your job?

My favorite part about the whole process is working with my clients and seeing their reactions with the revel. It’s so rewarding to see the joy on my client’s faces when they walk into their homes. One of my most cherished memories was doing a reveal for my client and her five year old son’s new apartment. Her son screamed with excitement and ran around the apartment. While I was showing my client some things in the living room, we popped into her bedroom a few minutes later. Her son was curled up, asleep in her bed. When he woke up he said, “Mom! Look at your room! It’s SO NICE!” It’s things like that, knowing that I’m making these homes for people, that make its so rewarding and why I love my job so much.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I always wanted to own my own business for years, but always thought it was something I would do later in life. My fiancé started his engineering company and encouraged me to do the same. I never thought I would love it as much as I do, and I'm so happy I did!

Why should our clients choose you?

Honestly, I think it comes down to the client interaction. I’ve seen so many times where designers try to design to their own liking, and don’t think about the client’s needs. While a funky geometric glass coffee table may look great, it also is not going to be very practical for a family with small children. That’s what I love about the initial consultation. I rarely go right into talking about design, but I start off asking questions about the client. What do you do for work, what your interests are, your hobbies, how you envision the space being used, what works in the space for them and what doesn’t, etc. From that information there, I can already get a design going knowing that they will need extra storage for their kids toys, or to open up some walls to accommodate entertaining for a large amount of guests, etc. And that’s really what I love about designing, creating spaces that fit the client’s needs, and making them feel good in them. I’ve lived in cities before, and rented apartments there because I knew that it was going to be temporary. I didn’t but a ton of effort into designing, as I was only going to live there for a few months. But, that gets depressing. There’s something about making a house a home. Somewhere you are excited to be there, and you feel relaxed, and comfortable. A place that is functional and has proper storage (trust me, I know all about storage needs, I didn’t have a bedroom closet in my Boston apartment!).
