Award Winning Interior Designer, Elle-Shoko Ota was one of 27 designers who were selected out of over 780 applicants to renovate the “RUSSEL L. POGUE ESTATE” built by Charles Toberman in Hollywood Hills. We believe, good design and living in a place you love is not achieved by luck. It takes good planning and research to find the right elements to create the look you want. Many people make the wrong initial steps or, worse, rely on intuition and totally ignore the basic steps of design. When this happens, you end up wasting money on things that don't fit your room. If you want to start living in a home that fits your lifestyle, feels comfortable, and is gorgeous, small change we provide can make all the difference.

What’s your interior design process?

1. Free Meet and Greet meeting.
This is a great opportunity for you and me to determine if working together is a good fit.
We want to get an idea of your current interior design style (if there is one) as well as explore what existing pieces of furniture or decor you might want to work with. This is your time to tell us all your hopes and dreams for your place! including your time frame and budget.

We may even provide some suggestions and design ideas for you to consider. However, the main purpose of this meeting is to gather as much information as possible to understand your needs.

2. After we have received the Retainer, I go back with my assistant and take photos and measurements of the spaces you want to update. Initial floor planning begins.
At the end of this phase, I will meet with you to review the initial plans, conceptual design ideas, and an estimated budget to ensure they are on track with the design intent.

I don't make a Mood board, that's for beginners or people who can't empathize with the client or analyze the space.

3. Contract/Agreement

4. The Design Development Phase: After the initial plans are approved, the design development phase begins.

5. The Final Design Phase:

6. Installation and Styling:

8. Project Wrap:

Which interior design styles can you cater for?

The one fit's your lifestyle!

Traditional, Mid-century modern, Farmhouse, Scandinavian, Rustic, Coastal... I can work with almost any design style. I love the Hamptons/coastal style personally. It's classic yet casual, cool and contemporary.
I am an expert at mixing styles, especially Western and Japanese styles.

What do you love most about your job?

Achievement feels and client's smile.

Interior design is a creative field that is constantly changing and evolving.
I enjoy interior design because it allows me to pay close attention to each detail. Not only does interior design allow me to work with problem-solving situations, but it also allows me to build creative, beautiful things that have functional end results.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Initially, I did not plan to start my own business as an interior designer. While working for Ethan Allen, I had the opportunity to meet interior designer Victoria Hagen, and I was motivated to become a designer like her.

Why should our clients choose you?

1. I have a unique creative vision and meticulous attention to detail.

2. I am a good listener and never impose my ideas. I never repeat the same style over and over again. I provide the ideal style for every client. I can easily incorporate your personality into my design plans.

3. I have not only an aesthetic sense, but also a technical background and extensive experience.

4. I am open, down to earth, and clients feel comfortable throughout the process.

5. I will work with your schedule and budget.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I usually don't work remotely because I need to see and feel where I work.
However, I communicate with my client via text and emails quite often.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I had to sign documents prepared by the realtor one time.
I wore a mask during meetings and on site.
