My daughter has been taking piano lessons with Vivian since Kindergarten and for 3 and half years now. Honestly, it has been an incredible 3 and half years. She has been growing leaps and bounds, and has won multiple prizes in different state level competitions. Most importantly, she has learned to love to play and perform piano, and love music in general. Vivian's classes are always interactive and engaging. She mixes the fun with challenge. Her piano program arranges through technics, music theories, classical music and pop songs, as well as some sight reading, composing and ear training along the way. She sets up clear expectations, and at the same time, she respects and trusts her students. She encourages my daughter to take the lead, such as picking her own songs, and practicing on her own at home. In respond to her respect and trust, I see confidence, interest and self-motivation growing inside my daughter. I can't thank enough to Vivian and her school!(Li from Westwood, MA)

At G4 Guitar School, Brookline, we offer acoustic and electric guitar classes for ages four to adult, and bass guitar or double bass classes for ages seven to adult. We have different programs for different ages and abilities. The G4 GUITAR METHOD is based around the 80/20 Principle which says that 80% of results come from just 20% of your efforts. By focusing on the 20% which we call 'The 7 Essential Skills of Guitar' you will succeed much sooner with much less effort. Most guitar method books were written decades ago and are rarely, if ever updated. With 50+ guitar schools around the world, our method is constantly updated using feedback from our ever-growing network of teachers. For bassists we have the B4 BASS METHOD, based on the structure of the G4 GUITAR METHOD, combined with the legendary Stinnett Music books, and specifically tailored to double bass or electric bass.
I love to help people realize their potential and achieve their goals as efficiently as possible. Learning an instrument takes a lot of time, patience and dedicated practice,. Whether you're a complete beginner, casual novice or elite session player, you've gotta be practicing. The two main obstacles people face are, 1) what to practice, and 2) how to manage a dedicated practice schedule. If you're practicing the right stuff and you're doing it enough, then you can play any song, any solo, anything you want. That moment students break through that first barrier and realize they can really go somewhere on their instrument, that's what I love.
Most gigging musicians have a handful of students here and there, and I was no exception. But teaching a few people out of your apartment between gigs limits the amount of people you can really serve. I opened G4 Brookline with the intent to help hundreds of people learn guitar or bass.
What's really impressive about the G4 GUITAR METHOD (and the B4 Bass Method for bassists) and makes it stand out from the crowd is the structure. The G4 GUITAR METHOD is based on the 80/20 principle. The 80/20 basically says that 80% of results come from 20% of efforts. In other words G4 focuses on the 20% that matters most and will get students playing their favorite songs sooner. G4 students literally progress faster by focusing on what we call the seven essential skills. I know there are some great methods out there but I haven't seen anything like G4. On top of the method there is the training and support G4 teachers receive. It is practically unheard of in this business and it makes a world of difference. David Hart has been developing the method and teaching guitar for over 30 years and he makes himself available not just to answer questions but will watch video footage of lessons and give feedback. And to add to that there are around 50 G4 teachers in the network who all support each other. It truly unique and like nothing I have seen anywhere. I always tell my students, I wish there had of been a G4 Guitar School when I was first starting out! It would have made things much more clear and simple for me as a beginner.
