I came to AG with a very specific goal: acquire and maintain a skill set that would put me on the radar for Lookingglass Theatre. As an actor with movement experience, I wanted to "up" my skill set. I participated in the beta year of the Professional Training Program and found myself constantly outside of my comfort zone; a necessity, but also incredibly terrifying. We were faced with the task of creating and developing our own work; rewarding, but also incredibly terrifying. Pretty much everything I did was equally positive and fright-inducing, and it is this balance of fright and flight that is so important for professional growth. I am the first to admit that I still have A LOT to work on in regards to my circus practice, but my thorough understanding of the basic aerial and ground skills opened the door to a teaching position. No actor wants to wait tables forever, and teaching has become a wonderful way to be creative and help make an impact on the younger generation. I continue to train there as well as other circus schools in Chicago, and Lookingglass grows ever closer.

We are so happy we hired Mr Bob! Mr Bob was wonderful to work with from the start. He took the time to work out the performance details, helped me decide when the kids should arrive and made adjustments to the show to eliminate balloons/latex products due to our son’s latex allergy.Mr Bob went above and beyond to include both of our children in the show (ages 6 and 7), who were celebrating their birthdays. Our 6 year old son is a wheelchair user. Mr Bob gave him a special spot in front, and did a fantastic job keeping him included. The other guests who participated in the show also had a blast! A shining example of how exemplary Mr Bob’s show is that he kept 34 children ages 1-12 captivated for 45 minutes. A handful of the children in the audience have difficulty sitting still—even they sat still and watched the entire show! This proves how well Mr Bob performs to keep an audience of all ages and needs entertained.The children and parents in attendance all raved about the show! We cannot wait to see another Mr Bob show in the future!
