The Okorie Johnson Trio / NuEnsemble and Indra Thomas pairing was absolutely amazing. We've attended many concerts throughout the city, but the seamlessness with which the music was presented, the artist briefings with NPR's Lois Reitzes, the setting's intimacy and the delicious offerings at City Winery made our Sunday one for the history books! At first, I wasn't sure if the sound would be too overpowering as my date and I sat by the stage (seats 25 & 26), but the volume was perfectly smooth without overpowering our senses. We've been talking about the show late into the night, and I'll likely bring it up this week. Hopefully we might partake of future Classical Brunch events; it was quite easily, for me, the Atlanta musical highlight of 2016.
