Primary Benefits of In-Home Private Dog Training Having your dog attend a class with other dogs can be useful, but they tend to act differently in social settings than they do when they are inside their home. For this reason, training in their primary residence offers not only comfort but avoids distractions and outside pressure that comes with being in an unfamiliar place. Simply put, private dog training allows for a tailored and structured training regiment to perfectly fit your dog’s personality and learning.

I have worked with Alpha Dog twice in the last 11 years and both times the results have been great. In early 2003, Jeff helped us train Noodle, our Anatolian Shepherd puppy. Anatolians are livestock guardian dogs, so they are bred to think independently and do what they think is best. This makes them quite challenging to train. Luckily, Jeff helped us train Noodle, with amazing results. Other Anatolian owners were always surprised that we could take her hiking and other places off leash, and she always came when called. Her early training stayed with her throughout her entire life, and she was a really great dog. Unfortunately, she passed away in late 2013, and so then we got Otto, also an Anatolian Shepherd. This time Jeff sent Tyler to work with us. The results were also great, though Otto has definitely been more challenging than Noodle was. Tyler and Jeff helped us work through quite a few of Otto's issues, both with in-person training and with phone and email follow up advice that was very helpful. Otto is still a work in progress, but he is getting better every day and we know we have Alpha Dog to help us when we need them. [Disclaimer: my husband and I have no relationship with Jeff or anyone else from Alpha Dog other than the 2 times they have helped us train dogs.]
Unique, customized training programs to suit your needs and real your goals, all with an eye on building a stronger bond between you and your dog. Our board and train program is limited to 1-2 dogs at a time that live in our home and go on all of our daily adventures with us. This allows us to accomplish as much as possible in a shorter period of time. It’s a staycation for your pup! They have fun all while learning.
Making both dogs and owners happy! It’s so rewarding to have a hand in creating a strong and beautiful bond between handler and dog by helping them to better understand one another.
My experience training and working with high drive working dogs that are often misunderstood drove me to seek out ways to better help these breeds through training. This led to helping others with various types of trouble shooting, behavior modification and just the basics so that they might better enjoy the time they spend with their pups.
I have an open-minded and patient approach. Each dog, owner and situation is different and it’s important to understand what type of training will best help them to reach their goals, all while creating a happy dog who enjoys working.
I haven’t tried and prefer face to face interactions so that I don’t miss any of the subtle cues that can be helpful in making a breakthrough and/or guiding them toward their goals.
We regularly hand sanitize anyways but we are respectful of peoples wishes in this regard and will wear a mask if desired or if we feel that we have been around anyone under the weather.
