Our blue heeler Percy was a hot mess - anxiety, barking, nipping, pulling, lunging at other dog…you name it, he had it. I called in Patriot Dog Training STL and he set up our 6 week course, working the schedule through schedule changes, catching COVID, and even came on holidays.
I came to Brandon with a litany of issues but he insisted that we start from the basics and develop boundaries, instill confidence in Percy, and train us better on proper reinforcement and consistency. The training was brilliant, and totally opened my eyes up to a whole different way of thinking about training. Brandon did a superb job of explaining the *why* and demonstrating the *how* incorporating both positive reinforcement and fair pressure that was far more effective than just saying “NO” and hoping for the best.
Percy is a whole new dog now. Even though we didn’t directly cover specific negative behaviors like barking in the car, or nipping us during play, or lunging at other dogs, he now has more confidence, and we have a better understanding of how to enforce boundaries so he actively and consistently makes better decisions with confidence. Thank you Patriot!

We absolutely loved working with Christina! We chose to do the 3 week board and train. She was not pushy about it at all and gave us several options for working with her, and let us take our time to decide the best route to take. She did wonders with our tenacious fur baby. She was so communicative sending us pictures and videos, and thorough, answering our questions and being honest, and she just went above and beyond for our girl. Christina was not afraid to work with our dog, even with her aggressive side. She did a great job of building rapport with her. Upon dropping her off, Christina made sure that my husband and I understood how to work with her and she completed a few scenarios with us. We would absolutely hire Christina again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her services to others!

Why Choose Us Our co-owner and lead dog trainer, Sam, has spent her entire career working with animals; from kennel work to dog training to veterinary medicine. The breadth of her experience and the depth of her compassion and understanding for both pups and their parents set Gold Star Canine above the rest. Our top priority is to improve the relationship between you and your best friend and create the most peaceful household possible.

Sam is truly the best! We've had our darling Jolyne for about 2 years now and while she is perfect in almost every regard she is a bit of a barker when it comes to strange noises or people coming to the door. Whenever our roommate comes home, despite her loving him to bits, she always borks as if he's a home invader! We tried offering treats and corrections and all sorts of things but nothing worked. Enter Gold Star Canine/Sam! Thanks to her online consultation we've been able to significantly reduce Jolyne's barking. It's such a blessing because my partner has auditory processing difficulties and loud barks can trigger migraines so Sam has been a life saver! I highly recommend Sam as a trainer and I will be coming to her if Jolyne develops any other "quirks" ;)

Morgan has been stellar as she worked with my rescue pup, Cherry, during her extended board and train. Prior to her stay, Cherry was a shy dog who often preferred to stay in her crate and did not like being around other dogs as she had been a breeder dog for a puppy mill. 2 months in and Cherry is practically a different dog! Morgan has taught her that it's fun to be outside of the crate, and she happily cuddles with people, soliciting attention from even strangers, and gives kisses! She even plays with other dogs now! I cannot say enough good about her and her techniques. On top of that, Morgan sends frequent updates and pictures, and I have loved seeing Cherry "blossom," as Morgan says. Aside from her behavior, Morgan has worked with her on basic obedience, which even with a Shiba that has had an easy life can be no easy task! But with her patience and knowledge of dog behavior she has taught Cherry to be a well behaved pet: coming when called, she is fully housebroken now, sits and lies down when asked, and even had a few fun tricks under her belt! I would recommend Morgan to any pet owner who is looking for a knowledgeable dog trainer, who clearly enjoys their work. We will certainly continue working with her!

My dog Mable and I had our first session with Claire today, and we couldn’t be happier! Mable absolutely loved her, and we have both already learned many tools that will help us better our day to day life!
We have three other dogs in our home, and Claire came to us so that she could observe all of them together in their environment. This was especially important to me, as a lot of the issues we had been having included Mable being protective/aggressive around the other dogs.
Even after just one session I am able to focus my energy in a more productive and helpful way for Mable and the other dogs, and Mable caught on faster than I had hoped!! She even provided me with a list of things to work on with Mable, as well as links to numerous products we spoke about during our session. We can’t wait to continue working with Claire!
Also, something that was very impressive for me was how quickly Claire responded to me. I submitted a form on her website after finding her on Bark, and she called me in less than 30 minutes. In the first conversation with her, it was clear that her main focus was making sure Mable was happy and healthy. Her communication was, and continues to be, exceptional.
Bark Busters offers Lifetime Support which means you have access to training services for as long as you own your dog.

I searched online for dog trainers after my once lovable English Bulldog started becoming aggressive towards our other dogs, small pugs, that live in the house. I had come to the point with his aggression that I had considered removing him from our home because I could no longer trust him around the other animals. But, at 7 years old, it was hard to give up a member of the family, so I decided to find a dog trainer to see if we could work things out. At first, I was looking for the "cheapest" trainer but after reading Sharon's profile, I decided to call and make an appointment to see if she would us. Immediately when she came in the door she assessed Sam and saw issues that I originally stated in my online questionnaire and other behaviors that needed to be corrected such as jumping and door rushing. She talked with my husband and I and demonstrated techniques for about 3 hours before even discussing price. I was so happy that in the short time she was there, I was already seeing positive progress and thought that her training would really help Sam and begin to restore the order in our household. I purchased the lifetime training package and worked with Sam for about 4-5 weeks before having Sharon come back for another session. In that time between sessions I have seen DRAMATIC improvements in Sam's behavior from simple changes such as feeding 2x daily instead of once and implementing daily walks with leash control. Sam still has bouts of "training forgetfulness" but he has not attacked any of the pugs since the first session and I now feel much better leaving him alone with the other animals without being separated. I can't thank Sharon enough for taking the time to help my husband and I understand what was going on with Sam and take back the "alpha" role of the family. Sharon has saved our family and I highly recommend her for your dog training needs. I wish I would have reached out sooner because she really has a way with speaking "dog language".

James is a miracle worker! I brought him my German Shepherd that I thought I was going to have to rehome due to her behaviors. She would pull me around on a leash, destroy everything she could (including her kennel), lunge and bark at everyone when out for a walk and she did unfortunately bite someone which was the last straw. After being with James for a board and train my dog is completely different. She will walk beside me and stop when I stop. We went for a walk and actually ran into the person she bit and she just sat beside me and eventually laid down and paid them no attention. Several people walked by her and no reactions from her at all. When I say I'm in tears because I get to keep her and the transformation in this dog is beyond what I could have every imagined I truly mean that. I also learned how to be a better dog owner and learned what I wasnt doing correctly! My only regret is not getting ahold of him sooner!

The best investment I could have made for me and my dog ♡ Lexi is friendly. My puppy is happy and well trained -everywhere we go people remark what a good boy he is. And most importantly he loves it there. It makes my day when I drop him off and he can barely contain his excitement -tail wagging 100mph. Would do it all again in a heartbeat if I get another dog. Worth every penny.
Within the last 100 years, the role of dogs in our lives changed forever. Dogs went from roaming outside to sleeping in our warm beds. Their barking suddenly became more of a nuisance than a true, potential warning of danger. And critically, dogs became our family rather than a worker. We all love our dogs, but the instincts of thousands of years still persist. That is why we use that instinct to transform dogs into a balanced, 21st century canine.
With 20+ years combined experience, we have the passion and skills to help with any of your pets' needs. We offer training services from puppyhood to behavior modification and everything in between. We also offer an alternative approach to our dog walking services. Not only will we take your pups for quick walks around your neighborhood, but also offer nature hikes and outtings!
My holistic dog training methods produce quick, long-lasting results. Combining positive reinforcement training with dog psychology, we’ll go back to the basics, energy and body language, to revolutionize the way you communicate with your canine. A balanced relationship with your dog is possible!
From puppy training to advanced obedience training to competition training to law enforcement K9 training, I've done it all! Dogs deserve to live their best life, it's my job to give it to them.
The best thing about my job is giving freedom to the families with previously problematic dogs. From not being able to take their dog out in public, to being able to enjoy their dog to the fullest on an everyday basis is why I do what I do.
I grew up with dogs and have spent my most of my life with at least one dog. Understanding their behavior came pretty naturally to me. I started helping friends and family with their dogs and before I knew it, it bad turned into a full time job. It started as a hobby and now I'm lucky enough to be able to do it as a profession!
I started off as a simple pet trainer. But I didn't necessarily start with just teaching sits and downs. My main training was fixing bad behaviors and undoing bad habits. From there I went on to teach higher level obedience and advanced obedience. Soon afterwards, I got into the world of sport dogs and competition dogs. And not too long after that I made my way into training and working with law enforcement K9's.
I won't just be able to help with your basic dog training , I'll know exactly what your dog needs and be able to help create a tailored program for you and your dog.
I do provide online training. Over the phone consultation and troubleshooting is available as well as zoom sessions.
