At the Local Pack Dog Training, we highly value the importance of real world dog training to bring out the best in every dog, so that they may live in harmony with their owners. Dog training for us, here at the Local Pack, is not about teaching dogs a set of tricks. It's about teaching dogs that the stimulations of this busy world, and energies outside of them should not, do not, and will not effect how they feel inside.

I have a beautiful pure bred pitbull puppy but I had a really tough time training her. Walking her was such a hassle as well. I’ve tried a few places to see if they could help me in any way but the prices were just too much and the reviews they had weren’t so good. I felt like I wouldn’t be leaving her in good hands until I stumbled upon The Local Pack. My friend recommended that I speak to them and when I was able to sit down and go over what I needed assistance in, I was instantly explained throughly what the process was and the price was just right. It’s been a week and my baby has shown improvement. They walk your dogs for you and train them so well. Will was helping me and I have to say, he is Mr. Cesar Jr! Highly recommended this place.

BRINGING PEOPLE AND THEIR CANINE FAMILY MEMBERS TOGETHER THROUGH CONFIDENCE, PATIENCE, AND CONSISTENCY. Helping dogs and people with any behavior problem is what I do best. I tailor each training plan individually, as each dog and their human(s) are individuals. I incorporate many different training techniques, based on positive training methods and dog psychology, to modify and change behaviors that are needed in our busy human world to ensure your dog is well balanced and trusted.

I really would like to recommend Mike's ability as a coach. He knows how to coach both dogs and humans to bring about results. Just when you're ready to give up, he's there to support you and prove that it can be done. Thank you Mike! Your help has made the world of difference for us. We're still a work in progress, but we continue to work at it knowing that we can do it!

Happy Paws Playhouse has been an idea in my mind for many years and now has finally come to a beginning! At the start of 2022, and after 20 years, my relationship with the medical field came to a bittersweet end. I certainly could have continued in the field but knew that I was given an opportunity to get back to my true passion… animals and nature, even the spiders I come across get a warm welcome.

I’m Jacqulene (Jac) and the big chunky guy with amber eyes in my cover photo is Rizzo, the very first member of my pack - my dog, my sidekick, my right-hand through life. I’m a relationship-based dog trainer, passionate about bringing balance to the life you share with your dog. Everything that I preach and practice goes back to one golden concept: every dog is looking for the same thing - leadership.

I moved to Boston with my recently rescued beagle terrier mix and the pace of city life was far too much for him. He was anxious and reactive to begin with but the bikes, the traffic, the extra pedestrians and everything else that you can run into on a city trip made our walks a very stressful time for both of us. I was referred to Janet and the moment she was around Casey, I could notice a change - he was more calm. She worked with Casey & educated my husband and I on how to use positive reinforcement and without her, I'm not sure how our story ended. With Janet's help, Casey became more confident, our walks were enjoyable and he was a happier dog. She is one in a million, working with Janet changed our lives.

Lance and his team at Compatible Canine Center are excellent trainers for you and your dog. They train YOU and your dog. They understand one size does not fit all and develop a plan that meets you and your dogs needs. Don't let the basement training center fool you, the place is top notch. Also, they are hard to reach on the phone and some have mentioned that. They are very busy with "word of mouth" referrals and are super busy so if you can be patient with getting a call or going in person they will help you. Everyone has a system and if you leave a message they will get it. If you have a challenging dog then Lance is your man as he really knows how to handle some of the tough cases. He is training me and may dog for service work presently and we go every two weeks so we have time to practice what we have learned. donna m. wilbur
I’ll hold your paws as we navigate this dog training thing together. Offering private training, small pack hikes, power pup training trips while you’re at work (walks, park outings). Private boarding for regular clients only. I pick up and drop off for all services. 24/7 communication access through a third party app to pivot our training in real time and get live-action pupdates. *I do not service Dorchester, Roslindale, Quincy, or other South Shore towns except for hiking clients in the Blue Hills area. Do you need support with any of these? -Adult dogs and rescues -Acclimating new dogs in the home -Tailored behavior modification plans -Multiple dog households -Leash walking -Recall/come -Basic manners (“obedience”) -Hyperarousal/jumpy mouthy behaviors (your dog jumps, mounts, or grabs hold in a state of overstimulation) -Teaching appropriate play (how to “dog” with other dogs—and people) -Leash reactivity (barking/growling/lunging/nipping/etc.) -Low frustration tolerance -Excessive barking and other “nuisance” behaviors -Collaborating with vets, vet behaviorists, and/or other professionals as appropriate -Wedding or special event dog chaperone (must be an established client) NOTE: I will only respond to contact requests with written descriptions generally outlining your needs and goals, and then only if I believe you may be a good fit! Primary service areas: Back Bay, Bay Village, South End, Ink Block, South Boston, Seaport, Fort Point, Cambridge, Medford, Somerville, Arlington.
Working myself out of a job! Every time I client tells me we’ve made so much progress they don’t need me anymore (or generally I tell them they’ve graduated!), I want to cry tears of joy. It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to help the next dog!
It was time! I’ve had several great mentors and experiences that have helped shape me while working for others. Now, I get to help humans and their dogs without any compromises.
I have a unique model for client communication using a third party app, allowing (and very strongly encouraging!) clients to contact me in real time in between sessions. The app allows text messaging, audio memos, photos, and videos to be shared. If there are multiple people in your household, everyone will have their own (free) account and we will have one group so everyone knows what is going on. When—not if—something comes up in between sessions, I expect to know about it!! You’re the one paying me, so bother me! It is MUCH easier to answer a question in a 5 minute audio message back to you than to “fix” something a week later you worked on sub-optimally because you didn’t want to reach out and bother me. The app allows you to message 24/7 without texting me directly at 2 am, for example. I usually respond within hours, but maybe within a day.
No, I do my work in person. I will take calls ahead of time to talk with you, but I typically do not train people to train their dogs online anymore.
I will respect any wishes you have for mutual safety. I will inform you if I am sick and offer to wear a mask or reschedule based on your comfort level.
