Capital City catered our December brunch wedding reception. The food was a big hit! My husband keeps reminiscing about the chicken and waffles and family keeps asking us if there are any more chocolate spoons... The menu was very detail oriented and delicious!
LeeAnn was also great to work with! She provided many creative ideas such as "his and hers" donut favors for our guests, a monogramed coffee sleeve stamp, and more. As an only child, wedding planning was totally new to myself and my family, and LeeAnn walked us through the typical order of a reception, possible reception layout at our venue, and was in general very helpful in answering our questions. I would highly recommend Capital City Catering!

Had a date night with my wife at Bone-in after months of waiting for it to open. Â The experience was fantastic. Â Just because you're close to the fireflies stadium, don't think it'll be too crowded. Â We still easily found parking during the game time and restaurant wasn't too crowded at all. Â The stuffed collards were a great appetizer, and both the rib and fried chicken entrees were phenomenal. Â We saw others enjoying their food, including the marrow shot, which was fun to watch. Â Nice beer and mixed drink selection as well. Â This is our new favorite place in Columbia!

I've been here multiple times now, and each time I step off of the elevator, I'm momentarily stunned by the view. It's by far the best view of Columbia in the area. It's a shame to go there while it's rainy or foggy outside, so save your first visit for a nice, clear day. The Club is constantly being rented out for business events, so I've been to as many of those as I have been actual meals. It's a perfect place for rubbing elbows with some Columbia VIPs, so definitely bring your business cards. They are remodeling a large portion of the club, and it'll be interesting to visit once the renovations are complete.

A week ago I tagged along with some friends heading to Pawley's in Five Points.  I'd never heard of the place and didn't realize Congaree Grill had closed.  (Good riddance.)  Prior to Congaree Grill, the faded-80's-Jetsons-style building housed Rising High Bakery.  The owner has added a covered front porch, which doesn't really match the building, but it'll be a welcome addition to the outside decks at The Salty Nut and Jake's when the weather warms up here.Pawley's menu seems to have been inspired by Poe's on Sullivan's Island, offering a variety of sandwiches available as burgers or as grilled chicken and topped with everything from the basics to the craziest of condiments.I consider it one of my missions in life to find the perfect burger, and last Thursday I encountered one of the best I've had in Columbia.  (Tough call between Pawley's and Cock n Bull's.)  I ordered a special -- the Caw Caw Creek Burger -- out of deference to my friend Emile DeFelice, the owner of Caw Caw Creek meats.  It was dark out, and we were sitting on the porch, so I wasn't entirely sure what all was on the Caw Caw Creek Burger, but consuming it was like going on a treasure hunt.  The generous patty was smothered in spicy jalapeno pimento cheese, caramelized onions, fried crawfish tails (!), and the usual lettuce and tomato.  ...A culinary adventure but not for the faint of stomach.Accompanying the ginormous burger on the plate was a nest of small, golden, homemade fries.  (My friend opted for the sweet potato fries, but they weren't as good.  Too Cinnamon Toast Crunch-ish.)My meal at Pawley's delighted me so much that I returned the next night to sample more of the menu.  I opted for a grilled chicken sandwich topped with melted slices of brie, roasted peppers, and marinated portabella mushrooms.  The chicken sandwich measured up as well as a chicken sandwich could. The sandwiches are a little pricey -- in the $9-10 range -- but they're worth every dime.  The beer's cheap, so that balances out the higher-end sandwiches.I highly recommend Pawley's.  (And from what I can gather, the word is out because the place had a good crowd both times I was there.)UPDATE: Here's the link the Columbia Free-Times' review of Pawley's'  free-times.com/index.php….

Really cool atmosphere, one of the most unique in Columbia. They have a beautiful bar and great cocktails (good beer selection too). The couple of items I've tried on the menu have all been very good, but they are having a little trouble getting us our food on time. I'm sure that will be fixed soon, highly worth a try.
