The Ridgedale Diner Restaurant doesn't look like a stereotypical stand-alone style diner but once inside it has the booths, tables, home-cooked style food and courtesy you would expect to find in a standard NJ diner. There seems to be three types of "Diner" restaurants these days. The first tries to be a Diner and calls itself one but is actually a fancy restaurant with prices that are higher than a diner and good that has too many bells and whistles to be a traditional NJ diner. The second is a true diner that gives you homecooked style american quisine at all hours of the nice if you are lucky, and for a reasonable price that is lower than a steakhouse or fine restaurant but higher than a fast food place. In NJ you should expect it to serve a Roast Turkey based meal costarring mashed potatos and other thanks-giving like sides. ANother popular at the second type of diner is a menu of open faced sandwiches such as roast-beef. The third type is less of a diner and more of a sandwich shop for the lunch and breakfast crowd. It is open, but never at night. It serves burgers, grilled chese, maybe a soup or two, and various kinds of french fries. There will usually be a stab at some other foods you can't get in a Mc Donald's, but you wouldn't want to order those in a place like this. As examples, "Tops Diner" is diner type 1, "The Ridgedale Diner Restaurant" is number 2, and "The Bendix Diner" is type three. The only thing about the Ridgedale Diner that doesn't fit this accolade is the fact that it closes at night. I highly recommend it for the kind of "decent" and standard food you may have eaten at home if an american household as a child from a family that has develped here for generations eating american quisine.
