Station Eight opened with a bang. We waited all summer through several false alarms and when they finally opened in September people came from miles around. The first night my husband and I went there we were able to get 2 seats at the very lengthy bar. By the time we left people were standing 4 deep and every seat in the restaurant was filled.The decor is kind of seaside ski lodge with high ceilings, expansive rooms, rustic wood and stone, and lots of space. It's a very pleasant place to spend some time and the service couldn't be more congenial and helpful.The food. After a great start with some surprisingly tasty buffalo chicken wings with all the meat pushed up to the top of the bone like a plump lollipop, we were disappointed with the chicken Marsala. It was bland and lacked any sweetness or flavor. However, it was freshly cooked and had fresh vegetables as sides. On another visit I tried the French onion soup - too salty and too sweet and the broth tasted canned. We were also disappointed with a chopped salad (could have been chopped smaller and with better lettuce and dressing) and the steak tips - not charred and a tad overdone.We like the atmosphere and the drinks and hope that the food improves. It's a great addition to the hood.
