Callie took care of our large family group, providing us with wonderful meals. She too is wonderful and especially good with children who are curious about what is going on in the kitchen, what is for dinner, and whether they can help Bottom line: the food is phenomenal and so is she. We hope to return to Key West, and when we do we will call Callie again. Our family can’t recommend Callie highly enough.

Beyond impressed with Jakes knowledge of the waters, fish, bait, poles, ect. You can tell he has a real passion for what he is doing. I was a lost dog on the water and he made me feel like I have been fishing for years. I have never caught or seen so many fish in my life. We hit our limit both days and threw back many more. Fairly priced even stayed out longer then we had set on.

If I could give a hundred stars to this establishment I would. Prior to the hurricane I enjoyed their fine restaurant and bar. With the hotel guests there is of course a expected wait for a table. Yet after giving your name and a drink at the bar you are usually seated by the bitter end of your drink. The food is beyond excellent as is the service. After fifty years of travel and over a hundred countries I can truly write that there is a feeling of being at home here. As to the staff and owner during the hurricane too much praise would not be enough. The open arm welcome to people needing shelter and safety during the storm will become legend. If you are visiting Key West and want to meet locals for a pleasant gathering in the lounge this is the place. If Key West is paradise then this fine hotel and restaurant and lounge is the gate to that paradise and should not be missed.

I don't know where to begin to tell you how much we appreciated working with Amy Lee Lay and Bill Lay ! What a great pleasure , starting with the initial consultation over the phone , Amy was so professional , answered to all of my questions and most importantly , she was very friendly ! She made me feel like I was talking to an old friend!
Then coming from Orlando to Key West ,we scheduled a tasting at their amazing facility and it was the BEST TASTING we ever had !
We didn't hesitate not even a second to contract them for our wedding!!
Since it was a destination wedding Amy kept working with us thru emails and phone calls! Always so accommodating !
The wedding day it was way more than we expected! The food was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! They even catered to our vegan guests , and they said it was the best vegan food!!
The hors d' oeuvres , the bread, salads , the incredible dinner , everything was fantastic !!!
We couldn't have asked for anything better!
The staff was so hard working and accommodating and ready to make everything perfect for us!
Catered Affairs is FANTASTIC!!! Wish I could give them 100 stars!!!
Thank you sooo much for making our wedding so special!
We will never forget it!
It honestly could not have been better!!
Thank you so much Amy and Bill.
Jesiga and Shelly.

I’m kind of mad at myself because I’ve been here for a whole week and just tried this place yesterday. Had the churrasco steak yesterday and the flavor and tenderness of the steak was phenomenal. It was so good, I came back today and got the Nicaraguan Tacos and damn if they weren’t the bomb too. So I ate my tacos at the stand and when I was done, I got the last tamale they had because it’s just so damn good too. If you’re passing this place, you’re missing out on some fantastic food and some really nice people to boot. I’ll be dreaming about this place. Who knows, you might see me there tomorrow before I head back to Texas.

I went to Jose's for lunch and walked out knowing upon my next visit to Key West returning is a must. The restaurant is on the small side compared to other places you might find in the area, but has a warm, inviting feel to it (don't worry it's air conditioned). Upon entry, we were greeted with chips and salsa (we found the salsa very good but a bit heavy handed with the vinegar, however not enough to ruin it as we did enjoy it), and our kind, enthusiastic waitress who gave us good service throughout our time at the restaurant, always with a smile. While we were there, we were the only patrons who didn't speak fluent Spanish, always a good sign at any ethnic restaurants this case being Latin food. Other patrons seemed to be regulars, the waitress knowing their order before they sat down. One man went into the kitchen to talk to the owners in friendly conversation. Definitely a warm, welcoming, friendly environment. All the seating options are 4-6 person booths, spaced evenly without cramming the space. We were very pleased with the food we received, the menu seeming to have it's highest influence from Mexican cuisine, and some strong Cuban influences, including the appetizer section only containing dishes featuring plantains, two of which we tried. One being the sliced ripe plantains, cooked until the edges are nice and caramelized. Sometimes restaurants just warm up pre-cooked ones but the waitress informed us they were made at the restaurant which is nice to know. They also weren't overly sweet as sometimes they can be, not ruining the savory parts of our meal. We also had plantain chips, potato chip thin, but cut lengthwise and served unsalted. Good because the salsa and guacamole are already flavorful enough alone and the subtle plantain flavor is nice unmasked. The other two people dining with me are vegetarians, and although there are no listed vegetarian options, the kitchen happily cooked some vegetable fajitas for them that received raving reviews. I personally had lengua (beef tongue) and pescado (fish-in this case tilapia) tacos. Served authentically (as far as I know) on a corn tortilla with the protein, onion, generous amounts of cilantro, raw radish, and lime wedge on the side which I squirted on liberally. Both types of tacos were excellently cooked and seasoned and fantastic, ranking as good as tacos of similar style I've had before. They were served with a guacamole that was like the salsa heavy on vinegar, but very good all the same, not ruining the condiment. There is no alcohol served there, but they have natural juice drinks and horchata. One of us got the horchata, which was very good. I got a passionfruit juice, which was also very good and not too sweet. The last member of our group got watermelon orange juice and it was as good as the other drinks. Last but not least, we couldn't leave without trying the flan, a Latin baked custard with a caramel layer on top. It was just as good as the rest of the meal (that being very very good) and one of the richest and strongly flavored flans I've had and also slightly more dense. These qualities did nothing but enhance the flavor. There was a flavor we weren't familiar with in the flan but we assumed to be an alcohol, maybe rum. Very good flan. It is a pretty small serving but well worth it. While we sat with our food our waitress refreshed our chips and salsa and inquired on the food, as well as a nice older lady coming by and asking about the food as well. She said her husband was the chef and I assume they are the owners, both very nice people (her husband asked us on our way out about the food and was also very friendly) I always find it nice when the owners mingle, it adds nicely to the ambiance. Overall, a fantastic restaurant. They had some daily specials including a fried whole fish I hope to try next time, as well as Oxtail several ways as a special later in the week. Jose's Latin Food is a great restaurant I will happily await my return to and highly recommend to anyone who may venture to the southernmost key.
