Whitey's Fish Camp is another hidden jewel of north Florida. This is truly a place where the local's go. A lot of people I talked to said they don't know how to get there. This is a very hard place to find. The address is not on the GPS and neither is the name. Being the determined elite yelper that I am, I found it.I am glad I finally found this place, it's like you're on your own private island. The atmosphere is great and the layout is huge. They have Lots of different options to choose from on where to sit. The Main inside dining room, the Main inside bar, the outside dining room, the outside bar, the game room, the tackle shop bar, or the beach dining area or out on the dock. I sort of hopped around for a while. The food is very good quality and at a fair price. They have happy hour specials and daily specials like AUCE crab legs on Monday nights. I started out with a dozen raw oysters, they were large and sweet. I then went into another episode of bizarre foods! I had a chance to try the Turtle, commonly known as Cooter in the south, lightly fried. I must admit I probably won't be ordering that again anytime soon. It had a fishy taste and was real rubbery. I then proceed on to the frog legs. At this point my stomach is saying WTF bill? Actually I enjoyed them and it's true they do taste like chicken only tenderer. The Service was another story the first lady serving me got sick, then a waiter and waitress hopped behind the bar to help out. Then a manager came in to help as well. Finally a replacement bartender came in. it was good to see that all the workers pulled together as a team to help out. I was going to deduct a star because it took longer than normal to get service. But I was in no hurry and saw 5 different people struggling to deliver. I felt kind of bad for the last guy but he kept his cool even when 2 softball teams rolled in. that is when it got real busy.Check out all the photos Whitey's Fish Camp is a place I will visit every time I am in town.
