Mountain Brook
Started From a Pop-Up Now We're Here! Early mornings, loading a van, setting up a farmer’s market tent in the cold, heat, rain and sun. The first Hero Doughnuts outpost was a shared commercial kitchen where founder Wil Drake’s 2-day process of making brioche style, yeast doughnuts started. Fresh fruit cooked down and mixed into glazes and fillings, topped with crunchy nuts, streusel, chocolate and sprinkles became the expression of joy that customers feel when they taste our doughnuts.

My husband wanted to grab a bite before a concert at WorkPlay so we chose Carrigan's Pub House. Â Be sure to get the address before you go because it's a bit difficult to find if you aren't familiar with the area. Â It may be easier to see when it's lit, but it was after sunset so it was dark to see any signage. It was more crowded that I expected for a Tuesday night, but just the perfect amount of crowded and a great atmosphere. Â Plenty of seating was available but we chose to eat at the bar. Â I ordered the Pastrami sandwich. Â It was really good but messy to eat because there was so much thick pastrami. Â I should have asked the sandwich to be cut in half. Â The fries were homemade (which is why some people commented on them being soggy) and were good with vinegar. Â My husband wanted the fish and chips but it was noted that the bones were not removed and he didn't want to eat them with the bones in, so he got the double burger. Â He said it was 'okay'. Â Both meals were too much for us to eat. There is a variety of food on the menu but not a lot of options and they don't have iced tea. Â The beer selection was extensive for the craft brews. We sat in front of the bartender and it was quite the show to watch him make the drinks. Â He definitely knew what he was doing.
