Our experience with Zip To Zip Moving was nothing short of fantastic, and I highly recommend them! Tony, the truly experienced professional who led the team on the day of our move, made the experience seamless. He's exceptional. Booking & Communication: The booking process was straightforward. The agent talked me through their policies, pricing, and what to expect on moving day. Everything was clear - no hidden fees or surprises. At the last minute, we needed to reschedule (2 days before the planned move), and they were able to do so without hassle or fees. We really appreciated that level of flexibility. Pricing: Moving is never cheap, but Zip To Zip's pricing was fair and transparent. Everything was explained upfront during the initial estimate, and Tony reiterated it all on moving day. There were no surprises at all when it came to the final bill. Moving Day: Tony and the rest of the crew arrived on time. We were still not completely packed, but the team basically finished it for us, incredibly quickly, and with attention to detail: from fragile antique lamps to cabinets full of delicate glassware, they packed and transported everything flawlessly. Not a single item was damaged. Their pricing model includes charges for packing materials (ie the big boxes they used when we ran out of ours). This was clear when booking, and Tony kept me informed on moving day about additional packing materials, only using them with my approval. The move took longer than expected (entirely our fault for being underprepared and late). Despite this, the crew remained patient and empathetic. When they arrived at our new location, they waited 2 hours for us to get there. And unloading was a bit complicated due to the house already being full of stuff. They were careful, helpful, and lightning fast. After everything was inside, we asked if they could move some of the heavier boxes up to the attic (logistically, not easy due to the layout of the house). At this point, we were probably 5+ hours later than they'd planned for (again, our fault). But even so, they made sure before leaving that everything was where we wanted it to be. Their dedication and professionalism really stood out. Kind, well-organized, efficient, and experienced, they clearly take pride in their work. Arsen and his team did a great job moving our items from one house to another. It took two trips of the 26 ft completely filled truck for them since we had a lot of stuff to move. DO NOT ENGAGE ZIP TO ZIP! Tldr: A significant number of our items went missing while in their care including both items of high monetary value and high sentimental value. It’s 3 months later and we are no closer to getting these items back or getting any sort of reimbursement despite paying them in full (almost 10k). Here is the longer list of all our grievances dealing with this company: ⁃ They completely ‘lost’ ~20 of the our items (about 15% of the move) ⁃ In addition, they lost the legs and shelves they’d removed from our furniture - meaning much of the furniture they delivered is now useless ⁃ A number of our items arrived damaged, some boxes had water damage ⁃ While they had told us they didn’t use third party drivers, they outsourced our move without our knowledge or consent. We have no idea where on the interstate journey our items were lost, since it seems they contracted out our move to not one, but two separate extremely sketchy companies. ⁃ They refuse to offer full value protection. They will tell you instead to buy your own third party insurance. This is a huge red flag we missed when choosing this company. Federal law requires that moving companies offer full value protection and they are violating federal law because they cannot keep track of their moves and probably lose or damage things all the time. ⁃ Many items that were delivered weren’t wrapped properly and had been damaged. ⁃ They charge extra for packaging, then proceed to not fill the boxes, many boxes were a half or a quarter full. As a result, we ended up having to pay nearly double what we were originally quoted and we only found this out after they had moved our things into the truck. When we questioned why the quote was so far from the actual price, the head mover literally told us “this always happens with zip to zip”. We ended up having to hire a lawyer who sent a formal letter of demand requesting fair reimbursement for our missing items. After months, we STILL have not resolved this, Zip to Zip continually ignores communication from our lawyer. Our lawyer is currently advising us to pursue Zip to Zip in small claims court. Given their current lack of communication, it looks like this is the path we will need to pursue to get fair compensation. I did some digging into this company online. All content about Zip to Zip on reddit appears to come from the same account that claims that they have had great experiences with the company - They are either posting fake content or paying for positive reviews. Zip to Zip operate their business like criminals and scammers. They will take your money (probably about double what they originally quote), destroy or lose your possessions and then gaslight you and ignore your efforts to seek compensation. Zero stars. Updated Review: A mix of good with some okay parts too. The good is that the movers were fast, efficient, and pleasant. The other good part is that, because of my original review (which had some of the same legitimate criticisms posted below), they were very apologetic and offered me a partial refund, which I appreciated. (I've removed much of my criticism of the actual moving team because, after thinking on it and discussing it with my wife, I realized I was being too critical.) Here's the stuff that was just okay: The moving team arrived two hours late, and Zip to Zip didn't inform me until the last second. Again, I'm not sure why this happened. But, in fairness, they were driving from New Jersey to Connecticut through NYC traffic. And it really didn't alter my moving plans. Overall, this wasn't a big deal, but I would have appreciated the heads up. Also, the estimate they provided before hand was about $100 short of the actual amount (less than a 10% difference), even though the movers ended up moving 20 boxes less than I estimated. Customer service did not address this issue or explain why the estimate was so off, but they refunded me more than this amount, so I'll call it a wash. Finally, when discussing the refund, the customer service representative was very pushy about trying to get me to remove this review as a quid pro quo for the refund. I did not agree to this, but did agree to amend my review for the reasons explained above. In sum, the movers were quick, efficient, and pleasant, and knew what they were doing. Very competent and careful, and so patient with me after health issues prevented me from being fully packed when they arrived. I paid much more than the original estimate, but they had to do much more to help me than they should have, and that was entirely my fault. The booking process was also very helpful and responsive. I could text a question and get a reply within minutes. And at the end they invited me down to the truck to confirm that nothing was left behind, something no other moving company had ever done. We needed to move a 1 bed 1 bath apartment into a 2 bed 2 bath apartment that was less than 20 minutes away. We made sure to communicate that we won't need any help packing things into boxes (purchased just over $300. 00 worth of materials ourselves from Home Depot). Zip To Zip Moving quoted us $895 for the move and let the company know that we'll be paying in cash to omit the extra $$$ for paying with credit card. Movers came later than expected, very nice guys. Asked if they can use some of their materials to pack the furniture securely which included a 6 piece sectional, 1 super inexpensive mirror, 1 old small tv, 1 dresser, 1 small wooden chest, 2 table lamps, 2 floor lamps). Alex and his crew were great communicators, very friendly, showed up on time and were very clear about any charges. The 5 man crew worked very hard for 13 hrs and got our whole local move done without a hitch. They had some difficult pieces to get down narrow stairs but they did not give up and were willing to take off doors and railings as needed (provided their own tools for that). They were careful with our things, our walls and our floors (2 scratches on wood floor but probably our fault as the bed legs did not have felt pads on them (now they do!). Best move ever!!! 3 men (George crew) was super professional, FAST and nice. They packed my 2 bdrm duplex condo within 4 hrs! I had a STRESS FREE move, I even was able to go to work for a meeting and by the time my meeting was over they had finished the unpacking at my new house!!! Our original movers ended up disappearing on us just days before our move and left us scrambling to find a replacement. We are following CDC guidelines to keep our customers and crew members safe and healthy. To this end, we introduced the Covid prevention protocol which includes musk wearing, disinfection procedures, systematic temperature check, and testing for our crew members. We are keen on keeping social distancing between our personnel and between customers and crew members as well.
