Wag mates and David were phenomenal! David trained and loved my doberman as if he were his own pup. David updated me on a daily basis with photos and videos of my pups progression throughout his stay with him. Taught myself and my husband how to continue my pups training at home. Provided me with homework to study for when my pup came home and even spend as much time as we needed to go over everything my pup learned so we could continue his training. I sent my 4 month old puppy to Wag Mates Academy because she had issues with biting, chewing and listening to commands. She was misbehaving all the time. Her trainer, Becky, was the absolute best. She took such great care of my puppy and treated her so well, I was amazed when she returned home. It was like I had a brand new puppy. She is so much more behaved and listens to me much better. Becky started to teach her how to a mannerly young lady and also taught me how to communicate with her.
Don’t get me wrong, Harper is still a puppy and she is testing her boundaries, and doing puppy things, but thanks to Becky I am better equipped to deal with her. She reached out every day with Harper’s progress through video and messages.

My little guy went in for the 6 week training program to focus on recall/impulse control, leash walking and general socialization issues, he came back a much more obedient, calm and patient dog! It is amazing to see his transition and walking him is so much more enjoyable experience for both of us now that he knows what I want him to do and he’s not always pulling. We sent our two Dogs Sadie and Loki to Wagmates academy for 6 weeks as they suffered from separation anxiety and trust issues. Our 4-month-old Bernedoodle, Aston, needed help with separation anxiety, potty training, and self-control. We live in NJ, and after researching trainers, we found Max, who turned out to be the BEST! Aston stayed with Max and his family for 4 weeks, and the transformation was remarkable. Max was incredibly transparent, providing updates twice a day, and kept us informed about Aston's progress and challenges.

When Aston came home, we could see how attached he had become to Max, but he was also so excited to see us. The difference in his behavior was night and day—he’s now more relaxed, confident, and well-behaved. Max did an incredible job, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Excellent 2-week board and train with trainer Ryan K near Chicago via Wag Mates. First time leaving our 6-mo German Shepherd mix, wanted to avoid the typical boarding/day care facilities which can be great but overwhelming and unstructured with 10-30 other dogs. This setup was perfect for us. Ryan provided details and answered questions over the phone and via text ahead of time. He transported our dog to/from the house -- not a short drive! -- and took time to review our training goals and dog's medication requirements. He projected calm confidence, communicated clearly, and was passionate about animal welfare and training dogs and their humans. He sent useful videos everyday, not just cute pics but actual training tips we can refer back to. Upon drop-off, he spent about 100mins with our family showing us what to focus on, answering our many questions, providing practical and objective product recommendations (love my clicker!), even walking around the neighborhood since leash training was one of our main goals; he is dedicated to creating a smooth and successful transition back home. Even offered free follow-up lessons whenever we wanted, incredible! Our dog didn't have any major behavioral issues but her fundamentals improved and she's more comfortable in the crate; leash manners / excitement meeting other dogs requires more work but we now have better tools and knowledge and have made progress in the weeks since she returned. We will book with Ryan again.
Wag Mates is not a local company but more like a service that connects you with contractors, which I was hesitant to use but turned out to be well organized and useful. I would like to let Wag Mates Academy and anyone looking for a dog trainer know how thankful I am for them. I would highly recommend this organization based on the sincere efforts they make to give each customer and their dog exactly what is expected. Macey is a pleasant lady to deal with. Now as for Ryan Wuelfing the dog trainer I can not say enough of how great he is. He took in both of my german shepherd's one being 5 years old and the other being 1 1/2 years old for the task of giving me what in was looking for in training. I can tell you now he is great. I'm extremely happy with both dogs. Now I have to work with both dog's daily to practice the thing Ryan taught me and them. Fits my dog’s obedience needs!

Our dog Kogi is 3 yrs old and we thought it would be impossible for him to be trained with severe separation anxiety. A neighbor just got her dog trained at Wagmates Academy and was very pleased with the results.
We decided to call and had a long conversation with Ryan addressing our concerns. He walked us through the process of their training programs and recommended a 4-6 week program with trainer Alexx. We had an additional call before we decided to give it a try.
Wagmates made it very easy to pay.  They have several payment options to choose from.
We give our trainer Alexx 10 stars. The trainers house is very clean. Alexx and his family work with Kogi and we could see how happy he was with them. We received daily videos and Alexx answered our questions while being boarded & trained. After 4 weeks of training, Kogi came home with his cute personality but was more calm and obedient. Now, Kogi is great at loose leash walking, recalls, and basic commands (sit, down, heel, come & sit, stay, break, and place). As Alexx stated for continued success, we practice daily boundaries and is being crate trained to help with his separation anxiety.

I am beyond thrilled with the results from David! After reading numerous rave reviews, I entrusted my 13-month-old German Shepherd to David for a two-week board and train program. We sent our year old microbully for a 3 week training. She was having trouble with recall, playing appropriately with other dogs, jumping on people and being defiant. She came home today and what a difference! We had 15 people at our house today for the holiday- including 2 dogs. She listen extremely well with all of the tips and information that Dave gave to us when he dropped her off. He sat with us for an hour to teach us how to teach her. We had a terrific experience using Wag Mates to train our 6 month old puppy. During his 3- week stay with David, we were constantly updated and informed of his progress. David focused on everything we asked for help with and our puppy returned with a new set of skills for us to continue to work on. Our pup’s impulse control is night and day, he now sleeps soundly in his crate, and he hardly needs a leash walking. I honestly cannot even express the level of satisfaction we had with Wag Mates Academy; their trainer Dyese in particular. We had a TERRIBLE experience with another dog training company so after that we were quite hesitant to try again but we knew having a Great Dane puppy that he would need to be properly trained. So, we decided to move forward with a 4 week program at Wag Mates and we have been so happy with the result! Our pup Jorah is a changed boy. He listens immediately and his recall is soooo much better,(which was his biggest issue) not to mention his now beautiful leash walking. Dyese communicated with us every SINGLE day, sent pictures, sent us beautifully filmed/edited videos of Jorah’s training, and sent us weekly reports on his weight, food intake, overall body assessment, behavior, etc. We even got to see videos of Jorah interacting with all the friends he made too which was such fun to watch! We could tell from the videos sent that he was happy, having so much fun, and was well taken care of which is such a complete difference from the other training company first used. Jorah has a tendency to self mutilate when in his cage(licks until he has open, bleeding hot spots) and Dyese was so so good at keeping an eye on his raw areas to not allow him to infect or make them any worse. She communicated with us about his licking and properly used his cone to halt the progression of any painful hotspots. She truly cared for Jorah, it was incredibly obvious and for that I could not thank her enough! I am so impressed and recommend Wag Mates now to everyone! I wish I did a little more research the first time we decided to send Jorah to training and found Wag Mates first so he wouldn’t have had to go through the traumatizing experience he did with the other company but I am so glad we crossed paths with them for the second and final try! We went into wag mates with a lot of concerns with our year old French Bulldog, Beau. He is our whole world, and we couldnt imagine sending him away. It came to a point where we needed higher guidence to help with his aggression / trigger impulses.

Beau went though a 6 week program with David. From the first call, we knew he was the perfect trainer for us. He was caring and understanding of all of our concerns. David went above and beyond with every step. He sent daily updates (pictures, funny and training videos, phone calls, ect), and it helped the time go by so fast. He kept up with all of his skin issues, and never once complained about the duffel bag I sent with Beau. Unfortunately, my overbearing dog parenting style. Lol.

I usually do not write reviews, instead read through them, but I felt the need to express how amazing our experience was. If you are in similar spot as us, and are having hesitations, don't. I sent my very stubborn rescue, Rune, to Wag Mates and specifically to David in MA for 6 weeks and it was LIFE-CHANGING! I cannot recommend David enough. He took my 1.5 year old AmStaff mix and totally whipped him into shape. He is a dream on the leash and is so improved with reactivity and all around behavior. He actually listens and responds and has matured immensely with David's help. Im so happy I chose Wag Mates Academy to get my dog Bluu trained! Before being put through this training Bluu was full of anxiety and super anxious/stressed around dogs and in general. With the help of our amazing trainer Shawn, Bluu has came back a whole different dog, hes much more calm and listens to us even in situations when he is stressed. What a great experience our 2 dogs had with Wag Mates. Our trainer, Anthony, was fantastic! Jack & Lucy are 16 months old and can suffer from separation anxiety, they are so much better now. They are following commands of sit, stay, laydown, come, and place. We are working on better loose leash walking, but they are a lot better than they were when they left for their three week training. For the very best outcome of my two dogs I have to be consistent with what they were taught and continuing on with the training at home. Anthony spent two hours with my husband and I for the hand off when the dogs came home so that we have the tools to continue. My 2 year old pug and I had an excellent experience with Wag Mates. Our trainer, Dave, was awesome with her. He sent 3-5 videos a day so that I could see how she was doing and how he was training her. He continues to provide some support now that she is home. A New Mochi, my Aussie Shepherd
I cannot say enough about how pleased and happy I am to have Mochi, my almost 3 year old Aussie shepherd, get boarded and trained at Wag Mates Academy for 4 weeks. I cannot thank Erin enough, in particular, for having my dog stay with her and family. Erin was great, patient and loving towards Mochi whose biggest issue was reactivity. She came home almost a completely different dog. She walks without pulling on leash, does recall well, and obeys commands like quiet--when I ask her to stop barking. Although she is still reactive towards bikers and passersby after 11 days since return, she isn't as stubborn as she used to be when asked to stop. I believed that by reinforcing and following up on what Erin has started with her like more exposure, patience and affection, Mochi will continue to thrive and be a better companion to me. Overall, the board & training with almost daily video reports of Mochi's progress was and is still worth, all that I paid for.

My experience with wag mates and my trainer was nothing but exceptional from the start. I had the pleasure of working with their amazing trainer Tressie for my Doberman and I was instantly able to see an improvement in my baby’s behavior when she came back. Having such a high energy dog for the first time and not always being sure how to direct it can be frustrating at times but since working with wag mates and Tressie I’m definitely more confident in this process. She took the time to walk me through everything that needed to be done upon my dogs return home from and made sure I was confident before she left us, and also allowed me to reach out for my questions/concerns.

Wag Mates is not a cheap solution or a quick fix by any means. BUT it was worth every penny. Max drove from NJ to PA to pick up our Australian cattle dog, Gilmour, who was dealing with some mild aggression and impulsivity issues. "Gil" stayed with Max and his family for 4 weeks, during which time we received multiple pix/videos per day, showing and explaining what they were working on. The tips were a lot to absorb for non-trainers like ourselves, but once we really broke down the techniques they were working on, they were easy to adopt at home. We've noticed a positive change in Gil, which stems from the things he learned during his time with Max, as well as the training techniques we continued once he was returned to us. Highly recommend! My pup's trainer, Dyese, kept me up to date about his training during his stay with her. I could tell she took detailed notes during our phone conversation by the way she specifically addressed those concerns in our WhatsApp briefings, that included videos of my pup's progress. The handover was wonderful. Dyese worked with us for at least an hour going over commands and further training exercises.
