We are still getting to know one another in terms of what we expect to achieve, but so far so good. Dales is passionate about optimising life through exercise, is very knowledgeable and is aware of any restrictions on my part. We get round obstacles and push a little harder each session. He maintains a professional attitude at all times and I feel comfortable and
confident working with him

Hello. My name is Nick McAleer and I am a registered dietitian with 12 years of experience in the NHS. Having worked in a wide range of clinical areas including gastroenterolgy and specialising in renal dietetics I am able to offer a wide range of dietary support and education. Good nutrition should be part of everyday life. As Dietitians, we believe people have the right to access high quality information relating to their individual needs, and play an active role in achieving a healthy, balanced diet.

Food is the foundation of health, and the trinity of physical, emotional and mental health combine to define us as whole beings. If something’s not right in one, it can show in another. I understand what compromised health feels like, and that personal experience of my own healing journey means I can relate to yours. Confirmed foodie as well as nutritionist, my mission is to help and heal, keeping food deliciously real, bringing together nutritional science, a love of cooking and eating glorious food, and a return to traditional methods of growing, eating, harvesting and healing – this is what Functional Food means: using real food in real life for real health.

I am a registered (Association for Nutrition) Nutritionist with and MSc from Kings College London. I have more than 20 years of varied and international experience; Clients have included an Olympic swimmer (preparing for the 2012 Games), sports academies and the US marine corps; as well as individual clients and corporates. I offer personalised dietary advice - my sessions are based on educating the client to enable them to make informed decisions with planning, shopping, preparing and proportions of proteins, carbohydrates and fats. I believe that if a client understands the advice and recommendations given, they are more likely to adhere to the dietary protocol. They feel informed and empowered and confident in their dietary choices. Please look at my website for more information and testimonials. www.nutritioninpractice.co.uk
A healthy diet is fundamental to an individuals health and wellbeing.
I am a passionate educator. I love empowering people and motivating them to make better choices through educating them. I respect that food is one of life's pleasures and I pride myself on helping clients establish sustainable and enjoyable eating.
I set up 'Nutrition in Practice' because I wanted the independence to choose when, and with whom, I work. It has paid-off in spades - I love my work and am inspired daily when I get emails from clients telling me of their new found freedom in food or health. It is incredibly inspiring and satisfying to support people on their health journey.
Because I am a registered (and that alone counts for so much - there are many people out there claiming to be 'certified' or 'insured' or 'qualified' - who have done a diploma or some online course for 6 months and claim that that makes them a 'nutritionist'). The AfN have rigorous demands to be met before considering an applicant for registration and a robust system to ensure all registrants are properly qualified and able to give sound and safe advice on nutrition. All registrants must have at least a Nutrition Science degree AND a minimum of 2 years clinical application and supporting references before they are considered for full registration. Beware of 'certificates' and 'certification'. Whoever you choose to support your nutritional needs, please make sure they are registered with AfN or the BDA - the only professional bodies that can guarantee you are in good hands.
