We are so so glad we had Mark for our engagement photos, and both our small intimate wedding ceremony and large family/friends ceremony and reception! Our theme was “under the stars” and so we did our engagement photos at Griffith Observatory. The photos came out amazing and we had so much fun. We used the photos for our Save the Dates and wedding website. The photos and videos from our two ceremonies came out beautiful and the video gave a chance to family who couldn’t make the wedding to experience our happy day. Mark was an absolute pleasure to work with from the beginning to the end. We planned our wedding in a little over 2 months which was an absolute nightmare for our stress levels, but we did not have to worry about anything when it came to our photos! Our engagement shoot was located in Laguna Beach and the wedding was located in Newport Beach, CA. We had an engagement shoot with another photographer before that we did not like whatsoever, so we decided to do another one which came with the package we selected from Mark. He was very accommodating from the get-go. He was also very responsive to all of our emails and calls. I was impressed with his level of responsive-ness. This is very critical when planning a wedding with little time to spare. I also really liked his communication style. He listened well and made us feel comfortable in discussing our questions, comments and concerns. I felt like his pricing was very reasonable for his knowledge and quality of work. He sends out a survey to help with understanding the essential shots you need and the style you are going for. He does all the thinking for you so that you don't need to-he is also very gracious in trying to understand your culture/traditions. We had a fusion wedding with American and Iranian elements and he was very respectful in capturing it all.

He was able to give us previews of our engagement photos very quickly and we could tell we would already be happy with the wedding photos after seeing these. He has a good eye for angles. He also had great videography skills. We were super happy with our wedding video! He packaged everything in cute boxes and had a lot of nice touches. His packages include many options, but most include large easel print outs, a gorgeous metal frame of your choosing, and photos in a keepsake box. He also has the most up to date equipment and we were able to add a drone to capture the ceremony. He has other photographers and videographers on his crew to help out too. Mark was amazing. From a year before our wedding, he worked with me to find a reasonable price within our budget and everything exceeded expectations. Our engagement photos were included in the package and we received them within three days of the shoot. He helped pick out sites for our photo shoot for the actual day of the wedding. I booked two photographers for 10 hours on a very long and complicated wedding day. He and Debbie, the other photographer, were prompt and ready to go at 10am and we're extremely flexible with the entire schedule. There were photos done in Woodland Hills, Simi Valley, The Santa Monica mountains and finally Malibu. Mark kindly rode on our crazy limo bus between the church and wedding venue while Debbie went early to capture all the little details at Duke's. I never had any specific shots in mind but they were great at getting our attention and capturing so many photos and the beautiful sunset and scenery at our beachside venue. Lastly, they went above and beyond what was expected and stayed all night until the last guests left at 11pm. Digital wedding photos and our photo box arrived within 3 week of the wedding. I hired Mark to capture a henna party hosted at my house, and by the end of the night I knew he would be my family's new go-to photographer. Mark is so responsive, respectful, and easy to work with. And his prices are very reasonable too.My family and I really appreciated that Mark came early to capture all of the guests' arrivals. He was dressed in a beautiful black suit and totally blended in with all the other guests. My family and I feel like the photos he took at the party are magazine-worthy; they are that amazing. He is just so great at capturing raw emotion and sweet, special moments. We also loved how quickly he was able to return the photos to us. We got them back within a few days.Once Mark was done, according to the time allotted in the contract, we asked him to stay and hang out with us because we enjoyed him that much. Mark was an absolute delight to have at our wedding! Our photos came out so perfect. I really wanted to have candid photos more than staged/posed and I couldn't be any happier with what he captured. I'm not the most photogenic nor confident so I hate pictures of myself but the absolute joy mark captured I cant even pick which one I love the most! Surpassed expectations by far! Skill and creativity is amazing. Price/value is unheard of for this kind of quality. Just let him know ahead of time if you want specific photos, such as family groups, etc. used him for my 3rd child's wedding and paid less with MUCH better quality and service than I did 15 years ago. We are so happy that we had Mark for our big day!!We hired Mark to take video of our wedding on 8/20/16. We had already secured photographers, and only decided to add video pretty last minute (about a month before the big day). Mark was very responsive via email (given that we live out of state from the wedding/Mark) and his prices are reasonable. We liked his work that we found online, and are thrilled that we chose him! Not only were the final products amazing and fast (he got us a sneak peek video within days of the wedding!), he was also so warm, kind, happy and fun to speak/work with. I highly recommend Mark Laing for all your photography needs! Mark recently took pictures at an inaugural scripted reading event I hosted at the Writers Guild of America West on behalf of the Committee of Black Writers, and he did a fantastic job! He arrived in a timely manner and didn't waste any time getting started. I told him exactly what I wanted from him and he nailed it! His pictures were incredible and so creative. He took, literally, hundreds of photos and I (and everyone) was very pleased with them all. Everyone can't take good pictures of People of Color but Mark can and did. No matter the skin tone, he made sure to capture every person in the most beautiful way possible. He also got me sneak peek pics the very next day and worked very patiently with me to ensure I was 100% pleased before the pics went out. There are so many POSITIVE things I can say about Mark! He's so talented and did such a great job on our engagement shoot and wedding pictures!
His pictures are so clean and raw, but yet so much character. He's able to capture moments and connect with the couple! And he knows exactly what he's looking for, and for those who don't know how to really pose, he makes you feel comfortable in posing.

I went to Mark for some headshots and they turned out great. He was very accommodating and got them done quick when I needed them for a deadline. I think the real testament to his skill is that he somehow managed to make me look ridiculously handsome in the headshots which is a feat of photography. You will never work with another photographer again after hiring Mark Laing. Mark is not only an extremely creative and talented photographer, he is also very professional and totally reliable.  Our family hired Mark for photography and video services on two separate occasions; my son's bar mitzvah and my daughter's bat mitzvah.Mark over-delivered on both occasions. We booked Mark for our April 2013 wedding aboard the Scarlett Belle in Oxnard, CA and we could not have been more happy with him! My husband wanted a photographer with a photojournalist look to his pictures and fun candid shots and Mark really fit the bill. He was very flexible with us and explored fun ideas for wedding shots. Sure we got the regular posed pictures but Mark also got some amazing gems that were candid and unplanned (by us anyway). Not only were the wedding pictures amazing but also Mark was the nicest person to work with. He fit in quite well with both of our families and everyone (especially my dad) loved him. I definitely thought I would feel awkward with some guy following me around with a camera all day but Mark made it very easy and comfortable to be a bride! We booked Mark for our December 22nd wedding in Topanga Canyon, California as our videographer. I chose him after our first meeting. He was wonderfully personable and I was excited to have him around on the big day. He is also wonderfully responsive. Email him right now he'll respond unbelievably fast! On the day he got a ton of great shots and I didn't have to instruct him at all (but I could had I wanted to). The end result was wonderful! Mark is a really great photographer. He is super creative and he really seems to love what he does. He makes you feel very comfortable being photographed which isn't always the case for me. Everyone at the wedding kept commenting on how nice the photographer was. He always responded very promptly to all of my calls or emails and he produced some really amazing photos of my wedding. Mark has taken our family portraits twice in 2011, and is scheduled to take our next portraits this upcoming November.  He's willing to travel to your favorite locations - we've picked a different spot each time in order to illustrate some of our favorite places we like to spend as a family.  We love how he captures the creative side of our family - the laughter, the fun, the emotions, and the real time that defines us as a family.  He works great with children and adults, making everyone feel comfortable.  Every photo he takes is beautiful and tells a story.  We always have a difficult time deciding which photos to hang on our walls, send to our family, and use on our annual holiday greeting cards.  We highly recommend him.  He's so much fun to work with!!! We were able to book Mark to do our wedding videography for our wedding in July. He was very helpful and responsive to all my emails and any questions that I had. One thing I really liked especially is that he customizes his service to meet the needs of the bride and the groom in every aspect. He really takes the time before the event to see exactly what the bride and groom are looking for and what would make them happy. At the event, Mark was absolutely amazing, and when the video and montage came out, we were beyond excited and satisfied with the end product. He sends you sneak peaks which is really fun before the actual video is ready to be viewed and he also sends the raw footage so you can have that as well before he sends out the final edited video and montage.
