After living in Japan for almost 7 years, it was hard to come back and only find silly, Americanized sushi. Grey Whale is really authentic and has the buttery smooth sashimi that you rarely find in the US let alone Nebraska. The location is convenient with available parking and a simple, comfortable atmosphere. The service was quick and efficient. More...

When i came in there was only one full table, i was worried. It's since filled up, but they only have one server, and he's working his tail off. Â Food and drinks seems to be coming out quickly considering the lack of staff. Decided on the Black Dragon Roll. Very very tasty! Â Can't complain at all on the sushi here. The clear soup leaves room to be desired. Not much taste to it. Won't get it next time. Crab Rangoon is stuffed full and very good. Will definitely come back to try other rolls. More...

Overall a great experience. We enjoyed trying something new! When we picked chicken for our ramen bowl, we were expecting a non breaded chicken, so that was a little bit of a surprise. The employees were very pleasant, but it was a little confusing on how to order. The bowl had "your choice of veggies" which we learned you add after ordering, in the assembly line. The food was good, lots of seating, we would come again! More...

I LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH!!!! Wonderful service, delicious rolls, and a great happy hour menu! Even their basic rolls are out of this world--the sweet potato roll ha eel sauce on it! Their clear broth is delicious too! My partner and I always get edamame + 4-5 rolls and generally come in under 30 before tip! (During happy hour) I highly recommend the hot mango roll! More...

The venue is fascinating, fashioned from what appears to be an old bank. The decor is nothing special, but the food is the bomb! The sushi here is fantastic! I had a three roll sushi lunch, so the rolls were not specialty. The fish was extremely fresh, the rolls weren't overloaded with rice and the fish cuts were generous. I cannot stand when you get sushi that's sliced paper thin and really the only thing you are eating is rice. That was not the case here. I would love to go back and try the specialty rolls because I am certain they would be spectacular. The service was great as well. If you like sushi, I am sure you will be impressed. More...

Order a takeout dinner via yelp (chow now). My order was ready super fast and everything was delicious! I had the vegetable dumplings, edamame, house salad, sake salmon sashimi, torched salmon sashimi, and the Fairy Lady Roll. The torched salmon sashimi was my favorite, I highly recommend it. The Fairy Lady Roll had a much spicier kick than I was expecting so heads up our you're a mild-buffalo wing level spice person like me. The veggie dumplings was a large portion and so was the house salad! Loved the ginger dressing with the house salad too :) More...

Sushi here is amazing. Not much going on as far as the restaurant itself is concerned. No decorations, cool lighting, or anything like that but who really cares. I'm sure if I gave a fuck and scrolled thru the reviews one of you douchey yelpers has written 3 paragraphs on this but me, I could care less. Happy hour all day Sunday is an amazing deal plus they have a ridiculously good selection. Never had anything besides sushi here but I will continue coming on sundays for the amazing sushi for great price. Fuck Pete ricketts too. More...

Dcent place for price. Went alone and got a bit of variety. W the daily specials, was quite cost effective. The waiter was ok but not super attentive. Tried a honey peanut and avocado roll. For Midwest sushi, this place is great. Located in the deep caverns of the Grand Manse building, this casual sushi spot is serving up some decent sushi and food for reasonable prices (esp during happy hour! ). We parked on the street, metered parking outside of Hurt's Doughnuts. Sunday is all day happy hour, much like what Hiro88 and Blue Sushi does on Sundays. Our goal was a light lunch since we had 5pm dinner plans - but 3 apps and 4 rolls later (~$55) we were stuffed to the brim. I thought the service was really good considering it was pretty busy at 2pm and there was really only one main server. Food came out at a very reasonable pace.Fish here was fresh, and likely previously frozen. It is Nebraska, after all. The ambience was lacking, and the space felt a little old and outdated, or just too simple without decor in the high ceiling industrial loft type space. Low key date place or casual meal with family or friends. More...

Should I tell the story about the tornados that were swirling around as we sat down for dinner at Grey Whale? Perhaps just a bit. We arrived around 5:30 and immediately after being seated the sirens started to wail. We immediately got up from our seats and moved to the inside of the building and returned when the sirens stopped. It took a while for the weather to clear so my friend and I had a wonderful, leisurely three-hour dinner. Thanks to yelp we got six free crab rangoon. The were not extraordinary, but they were tasty with lots of cream cheese. We also got an order of Gyoza, which were quite delicious! Typical appetizers done well. The miso soup, which came with the meal, had an interesting kick to it. I really liked it except... it was luke warm. The soup would have been so much better had it been steaming hot. I ordered the Chef's Sashimi Platter - 15 pieces of absolutely fresh and delicious sashimi. The pieces were generous in size and had me making yummy sounds. When I hear yummy sounds escaping my lips, that's when I know the sashimi is great. Yep... it was.The plum wine was very good and a welcome sip while cowering in fear of the restaurant being blown away. Between the crab rangoon, the gyoza and the sashimi.. I was very pleasantly satisfied. I absolutely recommend Grey Whale Sushi & Grill. More...

Grey Whale sushi is a mid range sushi restaurant in downtown Lincoln. We went for happy hour on Sunday night and tried a variety of rolls. All in all, the Grey Whale is slightly above average in terms of sushi quality. I think the rolls are slightly better than Blue and Hiro but are worse than some of the better sushi restaurants in Omaha (where I live, such as Yoshitomo and Umami). The happy hour prices were reasonable but still higher than Blue. $9ish for a decent roll is still pricey compared to other sushi places. That being said, the flavors were all there. All of the rolls we got were decent and nothing really stood out as amazing or bad. Come to Grey Whale if you want to try different rolls at a reasonable price. Â Note: Parking is a pain, so keep that in mind. More...

However the sushi was really good and the prices are even better. They also have several happy hour opportunities where the sushi can be $3 cheaper. They also take reservations which made it extremely convenient for my party if 11. I would definitely recommend and try several rolls during happy hour. I had the corn Husker roll.
