What makes a great website?
A great website is geared towards the targeted audience and utilizes current technology, keeping the focus on usability. The website keeps the intended purpose front and center, whether the site is for providing information or selling a product.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I like to ask my client for sites that they like and don't like. I tailor designs to my clients and want to get to know their likes and dislikes before starting so I don't design something they aren't going to be happy with. I ask who the audience is and what the ultimate purpose of the web site is. Sometimes the client will have future stages for the website, things they hope to include in their website at a later date, and it's important to keep those ideas in mind now too.
Describe your creative process.
Flyeye Design prides itself on being able to approach projects from all angles. We create fresh and detailed designs with
cutting edge software and technologies. Our clients are satisfied because we take the time to understand their needs, offer competitive pricing, and position ourselves as true strategic business partners. We bring our clients' vision to life by communicating a well-planned strategy. If your project
needs to fit the media, stick to the budget, appeal to the target audience, and perform a designated task, Flyeye Design will make it happen.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
For a website, we need what I call a web map. We need to know everything that is going on the website, to have it organized to plan out the website. We need this to estimate the work. We need to know if there is an exisiting site, who the current host is, what plugins they are currently using, what functionality they are using and want to use. Will the client need things such as a shopping cart or other databases that need to be setup or redesigned, carried over? Do you have current branding/logo or are you needing that to be created?
What do you love most about your job?
I love the variety of graphic design and the projects. I can work on print projects one day and an illustration the next. Things never get boring and I feel I can use my skills to really help clients get their messages across, to reach their audiences.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I decided to freelance full-time when my husband's military Air Force career had us moving base to base and I grew frustrated with having to re-apply to in-house graphic design jobs, which are usually only located near large cities.
Why should our clients choose you?
I think I have the design experience, but also the professionalism and communication skills to make my clients happy and keep them on target with their budgets. In short, to get the job done.
