What makes a great website?
I believe a great site is one that visually communicates the heart of the business in a way that makes it easy for users to understand the brand and easily navigate to the products or services they are looking for. Custom features or apps help to add unique functionality and sets a company apart from its competitors.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Starting a new project I would ask a client for details of the target audience and goals for the project. Request a list of anything they'd like to share as ideas or preferences, and list of competitors (with likes or dislikes). I would ask for a vector logo if one exists, and any brand guides that might be in place. We would discuss the ideal budget and deadline and timeline for the project.
Describe your creative process.
I usually start by gathering as much information as possible about my client's business. Then setup a call or meeting to discuss the project, or email if that is preferred. After understanding the project, I would get information on timing and budget. I would then start with initial designs giving multiple ideas for review and feedback. After a direction is approved, I refine the design, proof and submit for review. Next comes additional rounds of edits as needed, final approval, then production.
Website projects are more fluid. After learning about the goals, budget and launch date of the site, I research templates for the best fit, (if using a platform like Shopify or Squarespace) then test some designs and either search for stock or shoot any needed photography. I add content and any products including product images and details as needed. If it's a Shopify site, I customize features with any necessary apps and try to make suggestions to improve functionality and the experience.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
To start a project, I need to know the target audience, goals of the project and details of the project. In addition, I need the final deadline or launch date and budget.
What do you love most about your job?
As a designer, I love being creative with a purpose. Helping my clients achieve their goals effectively and executing their vision in a functional and unique way.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Although working at an ad agency full time was rewarding, freelancing gave me the ability to help more than one company and experience different industries with a wider variety of projects. I also started my freelance business at a time when I had young kids and wanted to be home for them without giving up a career.
Why should our clients choose you?
I believe clients should choose me for my experience, creativity, and dedication.
Web Design & Development
I am a Shopify Partner able to create both standard and custom sites with app setup and integration as needed. I also have experience creating sites on Squarespace, Big Commerce, WordPress and Duda.
Print Materials
I have many years of experience designing and producing lookbooks, catalogs, brochures, annual reports, ads and flyers to name a few. I use InDesign as my layout program and take projects from design, to production and print. I am also a photographer and shoot many of my clients product shots as needed.
Branding - Logo & Identity Packages
Using Adobe Illustrator, I create logos for full brand packages, including identity packages and brand guides if requested.
e-Marketing
Create Email blasts, landing pages, Web banners, and social media images for a wider reach for my clients.
Packaging & Prototyping
Experience in packaging for the beauty and healthcare industries. Using Photoshop, able to prototype packaging, fashion and accessories before production samples are available.
Product & Fashion Photography
Due to a growing need of my clients, I am a self-taught Photographer. Years of working with Photographers as an Art Director, directing and setting up product shots taught an eye for composition. My many years using Photoshop gives me the ability to color correct, edit in post or use shots to combine with stock for more variety and lower costs for lifestyle shots.
