Ruth is a very easy person to communicate with - whether you are on Zoom or on a phone call. She is outgoing, comforting, and knowledgable. She takes the time to explain why she is asking something of you and is an active listener. Ruth focuses on the body sensations associated with something you've said, which is very unique to her practice. I quite enjoy this and appreciate the check-ins/ breathing exercises she does during session. I feel my autonomy is supported by Ruth and I am looking forward to continue my therapy journey with her guidance.

YES! Without a doubt! I met Jessica at the Georgetown market when I was in a very sad place with my mum weeks away from dying. Jessica allowed me the space and patience to express my story and waited while I cried as I told my sad tale. She was lovely and I felt a real connection to her and returned weekly to the market in hopes of finding her again to update her on my mum's death.

I listen and guide you through a lens of hope and meaningful conversations. These conversations support you to rediscover your strength, purpose and capacity. They help you move forward in a direction that is right for you and your future. Do you find yourself stuck in arguments, blaming each other and struggling to communicate with one another? Are you preoccupied by thoughts that no matter how hard you try, you end up lost and not sure what to do next? You have come to the right place! Let's work together to identify your common goals and identify the strengths you both bring to the relationship; hear each other and allow space for respectful conversations; to allow you both to move in a direction that is good for you, your relationship and all involved. No matter how you are feeling right now, I am  here to help. Through conversations that allow you to consider different perspectives, you will leave the session with a surge in confidence to pursue what is important to you in your life! I have been working as a RN psychotherapist for over 15 years, opening my own practice in 2022. Call or email or visit my website to make an appointment today!
I love working with people to help them see their strengths through their challenges and watching them move in a direction toward a life they want to live.
I started my career on an in-patient mental health unit. I moved to the emergency department where I provided mental health assessments and counselling. I left the healthcare setting to pursue a mental health role in Public Health. In that role I provided therapy for school age children, teens, their parent/guardians and advocated for the students/families within the school setting and community resources. I then moved to a part-time psychotherapist role working with adults in an outpatient mental health clinic, which I continue to do today and I have a part-time private practice.
It was these and personal past experiences where I developed a passion for supporting individuals, families and relationships through challenging times in their lives. Whether school, career, parenting, relationships, loss or other turning points, transitions can be tough - ruminating about perceived past 'failures' or overthinking about the fears of your future can have you questioning, even doubting yourself and keeping you stuck spinning your wheels.
You are not alone and it does not have to be this way!
My life and work experiences have driven my passion to pursue this radical way of working. Using SFBT has our conversations focused on what you want to achieve rather than what you want to leave behind (the problems). It is the feedback and outcomes from those I have worked with that have inspired me to pursue private practice. We are all unique and our solutions to challenges are all unique!
I use a Solution Focused Brief Therapy approach which is an evidence-based model and is supported by significant outcome and process research. This approach focuses on hope and building capacity within. The trajectory of the work shifts from a problem-focus, to what you, the client is hoping for. I acknowledge your current circumstance and meet you where you are today. I honor your agency and autonomy.
Yes, I use a virtual platform which allows us to meet face-to-face by video, in the comfort of your own home or preferred location. I provide you with a link to enter the secure, online video Google Meet platform for our designated meeting time.
Some clients choose to meet online from home, work, walking or sitting inside a parked vehicle for privacy. Ensuring a quiet space will support you, in getting the most out of our time together.
I provide therapy online through Google Meets or Zoom.
