Meister Counselling and Psychotherapy

Trusted Relational Therapist Whether you’re having relationship problems, struggling with personal challenges, or searching for the next step, I’m ready to accompany you on your journey. I work with people whose worry manifests itself at the worst times. I work with people who feel sinking or stuck because of their low mood. I work with couples who want to feel in sync again and have hope that their relationship can be as exciting as when they first met. I also work with couples who are considering separating. Whether you move forward together or apart, Emotionally Focused Therapy and learning about attachment can support you both. I'm not here to save you, I'm hear to help you process your emotions. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who works primarily from an attachment perspective with individuals and couples and have completed the Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Externship and Core Skills. The humanistic approach for healing and change is used as a theory of adult love and emotion regulation. Individual therapy is an attachment process (the building of safe connections) between the therapist and the client and between previous and present relationships. If you think we might be a good fit, please reach out to set up an appointment. I am also a Mom, Co-parent, Sister, and Daughter On a more personal level, I am a separated co-parent to two wonderful kiddos. It was an important value for us to continue to be a family even though their Dad and I were no longer a couple. We hope that we have provided our children with the knowledge that their parents are still family to one another and we are always their safe place to land. Our family isn't broken and our marriage was not a failure. We live separately and our children now have two homes. We attribute the ability to co-parent amicably and redefine family to the marriage and family therapy that we had the courage to go to when we needed support in our relationship. Therapy supports couples in their relationship whether they stay together or decide to part and learning that from our therapist was very healing. It allowed me to take a deep breath and finally exhale.. I come from a fairly big family for a time growing up in the 80s and 90s when most families did not have more than two children! I am one of four children to some parents that were way ahead of their time - and they are still married and live in the house I grew up in! I say they were ahead of their time for the equality they embodied in how they parented us. I use my personal experience in a way to support clients by sharing personal stories that may help to validate what they're going through and provide some insight.

What do you love most about your job?

I love being able to genuinely connect to people and hold space for them to talk to someone or to sit with them in silence.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I was inspired to start my own business because I have incredible mentors and coaches who supported me through incredibly difficult times in my life, and this is my life's passion work, I want to be able to support others and give back.

Why should our clients choose you?

Clients should choose me for a therapist because I use humour and I'm not "dull"! That was the greatest compliment I have received from one half a couple! LOL

I am not a therapist who is just going to "mhmm" and nod...although, I do...do that (do do.... see, I'd laugh at that!)

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I provide services all online at this time throughout Ontario and have liability insurance for all of Canada. If I cannot support someone, I'll find them great options in their area of need, either service area or area of specialization if I'm not the best fit. We can not be trained in everything and that is why I am so connected to a wonderful network of other mental health specialists.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I am available for sessions in person, hybrid or completely online through the Jane App. which is HIPPA compliant. https://jane.app/guide/privacy-and-security/is-jane-hipaa-compliant
