NOW ACCEPTING NEW ONLINE STUDENTS ONLY…..LIMITED AVAILABILITY! Why would you take online lessons from me when you can get lessons down the street? Because of my experience, training and dedication to my students success! My students love their lessons because I teach them what they want to learn, and also the technique, theory and ear training they need to advance to becoming accomplished musicians. Each lesson is followed with a personalized lesson video and tabs/music to reference after the lesson is over. The guitar is unique in that we can learn a lot from seeing how the hands move, videos help with that. I’m a very experienced guitar instructor (30+yrs) and love teaching students of all ages and levels. My students vary from total beginners, to professional touring musicians, and I teach pop, rock, country ,jazz, and classical.I’m fluent in all of these styles, play and record them professionally, and know all the tricks, theory and techniques to teach them to make my students successful. My website that includes a bio, video lessons, tab and student reviews is guitarwithjim.com. Please feel free to reach out to me on the website. I have a Bachelors Degree in Music with a Classical guitar major, taught at the School of Rock in Las Vegas, at The Conservatory at Brandon University and also privately for 25+years. Toured, performed and recorded all over North America including a 20+yr stint on the Las Vegas Strip. I offer a free 30 min trial to make sure we are a good “fit’. My time and expertise is valuable and I don’t wish to waste my time or yours. This time is usually used to discuss my teaching approach and answer any questions the student has. My rate for a 45 min/session is $50CAD and payments can be submitted using Interac or Paypal. Students are scheduled to a weekly time slot that consistently works for them. Normal sessions are 45mins long, the free trial is 30mins. See what a difference a schooled professional with experience makes! Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. Love the guitar and love showing people of all ages how to learn and have fun playing music, whether they are total beginners through to advanced pros…
And love seeing my students every week, I have a special connection with all of them.
After teaching for multiple years at The Conservatory level as well as at The School of Rock as well as privately,I was forced to go online during Covid. Found my niche as I was able to share my knowledge and experience with a nation-wide base.
I have a very individual approach to teaching- the guitar and music can mean different things and goals for different people and showing my students the paths toward their personal goals is my first priority.
Moreover, the amount of teaching experience I bring to the sessions helps my students reach their potential- this isn’t a side hustle for me, I take my responsibilities as a guitar instructor very seriously.
I teach exclusively online, via Zoom. There are multiple advantages to this. Access to a wide range of material, camera angles to see exactly what hands are doing, less travel time, etc….None of my students are disappointed that we aren’t in person and most are happy to connect with someone that can meet their needs more so than the local music shop teacher.
Online lessons are completely safe from COVID-19.
I have some students who have contracted the guitar nerd bug, be forewarned.
