Core Connections Counselling

Life is not always easy. On our paths, regardless of how carefully planned our journeys have been, we can come across seemingly insurmountable challenges and dark times that appear endless. I can help you overcome these challenges and dark times so that you can regain the confidence, clarity, and strength needed to conquer whatever life throws at you. My name is Amy and I am an online counsellor and parent coach based out of Lake Country, BC. Via a secure video platform, I service clients across Canada and the USA. I offer online counselling services for people with depression and anxiety, as well as individuals with chronic illness. I also offer parent coaching to parents of young children (0-6). Initially passionate about exploring the external world via international travel and study, my passion now lies in exploring the internal forces that make us human. This shift was largely a result of personal experiences. Although blessed with many fortunes, I have had my own challenges with depression, anxiety, and chronic illness. It is through my personal experiences of overcoming and managing these challenges that I aspire to help others who strive, like me, to live their best life possible. Combining personal and professional clinical experience with research-based training, my counselling approach is collaborative, supportive, open-minded, and compassionate. I have a Masters of Counselling degree and am a Canadian Certified Counsellor. As a Certified Professional Member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, I am governed by their Code of Ethics - in my work integrity, privacy, and confidentiality are of the utmost importance. I further have had the pleasure of working at the In Sync program, an influential Calgary-based program that coaches parents in modern, evidence-based, best practices. This experience sparked my interest in parent coaching. I strive to support strong and long-lasting parent-child bonds that promote social and emotional intelligence, resilience, and healthy brain development in today's children. Outside of work, one of my passions is yoga. I am a trained yoga instructor and incorporate many of yoga's teachings into my life, including meditation, mindfulness, and breathing exercises. If you are interested or curious about coupling these pieces into your work with me, I would be happy to do so in a way that works best for you. I am looking forward to working with and learning more about you! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to visit my website at coreconnectionscounselling.com or contact me at a•••••@••••.com ((587) •••-••••).

What do you love most about your job?

Helping people overcome challenges that they never thought they could overcome; seeing clients regain their confidence, clarity, and strength so that they can live their best lives possible.

What inspired you to start your own business?

The freedom to help others using the most effective, personalized means possible, opposed to ones that are dictated by a funder, agency, or an insurance company.

I worked in non-profit for a long time and, although it was a fabulous experience, a lot of the techniques and time lines were bound to what the agency and it's funders dictated opposed to what would actually be the most effective for each individual client. EAP and EFAP programs work this way as well. Having the freedom to offer individualized services to meet the specific needs of each unique client is rewarding and refreshing.

I also love doing online video counselling as it gives people the means of receiving services who would otherwise not be able to (or who would find it difficult or inconvenient).

Why should our clients choose you?

I believe clients should choose whoever is the best "fit" for them. Research shows that the counsellor-client relationship is one of the most important factors to success in counselling. Knowing this, I offer free 20 minute phone consultations so that you can get to know me a bit better. I encourage clients to visit my website to learn more about me and if they feel like I am a fit to contact me at (587) 802-4145 or email me at amy@coreconnectionscounselling.com to book your free consultation.
